Hi David.

Check out the West Oz Riders Group, then go to the face book page.  that has most of the information on it.

Otherwise, Yes I can give you a couple of tips.

 

Tip 1) Always wear gloves and a helmet!!

 

Aside from that, you will be pleased to know there are a few of us longboarders around your age cruzing the streets.  Let us know once your up and riding and we will take it from there :).
