ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

OK folks, we're back after just a three-day break. The ASRA team has landed in Bathurst, and despite advance warnings of how cold it is we've still been surprised - it's brutally cold. My first task here was to buy some fingerless gloves and a very attractive hat:

Once suitably warmed we got settled into our luxury digs before heading out for some twilight mini-ramp action at the festival site. It's a 6' ramp, so more of a maxi-mini really, and it took its toll with Trav and Haggy taking some hard slams.

A blurry Trav heads for the coping, while Haggy, Blackwood, Pete and the Van of Love look on

Yes, it was cold up there. Bring your woolies. See you tomorrow. Rider check-in starts at midday at the Flannery Skillset Centre.

Super-rad junior semi...Kelly leads the whole way but gets drafted by Dejan and Quinn right at the line, and Kelly is 3rd. Josh E is 4th.

The Junior Final will be:

Quin Finocchio (J)
Dejan Djukic (J)
Sam Dalton (J)
Jayden Mitchell (J)

Can Jayden make it two World Cups in a row?

Street Luge semis on track now, then...Open Semis.

...and there'll be a bit of freeriding thrown in there too.

But now the big guns:

Mischo Erban
Alex Tongue
Douglas Silva
Louis Pilloni

Nobody can catch Dalua. Mischo was in 4th off the push, but drafted into 2nd. It looked like Dalua scrubbed a bit coming out of Forest, but he is so fast down Conrod it doesn't matter.

Dillon Stephens with a big push, and nobody can catch him. James Kelly in 2nd, and nobody can catch him either. No drama compared to the previous semi.

Junior Consolation Final on the line right now:

Kelly Carter (J)
Josh Evans (J)
Chris O'Brien (J)
Gabe Maher (J)

Kelly leads out, but Josh drafts and passes on Conrod, but Kelly gets right back into Josh's draft and passes him on the line...Kelly wins!

And we have some freeriding now, just for kicks.

Louis Pilloni does a no-brake pass on Christoph through Forest, taking him on the inside, but Christoph gets into his draft and passes him on Conrod. Neither can catch Alex Tongue, who wins. And that's the consi:

Alex Tongue 1
Louis Pilloni 3
Christoph Batt 2
Mikael "kula" Jensen 4

WE're running some freeriding cos we're so ahead of schedule, but there's not many takers. But everyone wants to freeride after the finals, but the organisers aren't keen for that. And there's no sign of the promised rain.

We are down to the final four in everything:

Open Skateboarding:

Douglas Silva
Mischo Erban
Dillon Stephens
James Kelly

Junior Skateboard:

Quin Finocchio (J)
Dejan Djukic (J)
Sam Dalton (J)
Jayden Mitchell (J)

Street Luge:

Graham Brittain
Nick Duffield
David Dean
Abdil Mahdzan

Junior Finals on the line now......

Sam Dalton with the no-brake inside line thru Forest passes two riders, but they get in his draft, and it's Dejan, Jayden and Sam down Conrod, and then Jayden passes Dejan right on the line!!! Super exciting, and Jayden makes it two in a row in the Juniors.

Junior Results

1 Jayden Mitchell (J)
2 Dejan Djukic (J)
3 Sam Dalton (J)
4 Quin Finocchio (J)
5 Kelly Carter (J)
6 Josh Evans (J)
7 Chris O'Brien (J)
8 Gabe Maher (J)
9 Christopher Hardy (J)
10 Lewis Carroll (J)
11 Caspian Baska (J)
12 Cooper Kruize (J)
13 Connor Ferguson (J)
14 Julian Forde (J)
15 Charlie Harris (J)
16 Addison Lucchesi (J)
17 Jasper Marshall (J)
18 Max Heaton (J)
19 Ian Coggan (J)
20 Harry Hope (J)
21 Sam Gerber (J)
22 Tom Rentoul (J)

Oops, I'm a bit premature as there's a protest between 3rd and 4th in the Junior Final.
