look really cool
Yes, we love 'em. I personally use the "LT" models for Hang Gliding Competitions. SUPER CLEAN, and there's a spot in the back of the helmet-tail to fit an mp3 player. -swEEt. These models are the most popular for the downhill skaters, too.
I use my open face FLY helmet for my recreational skates in Stanwell Park, mostly to check out the surf.

The padding inside the helmet is interchangeable/removable for different sizes (let's say your head swells after winning a comp) or for cleaning (sweat, grime, etc...)
Cheers,
Curt
Can I play the devils advocate Curt?
Alot of people are very skeptical of these aero helmets and weather or not they would do anything when hitting something as hard as a road surface.

Dont get me wrong, I wear a similar helmet when I ride and have had a few crashes in it but have never REALLY slammed my head. I noticed though you highlighted ''aerodynamic protective'' helmets.
Just interested if you have your own opinion on the matter.

Cheers!
No Problem Dani, No offense taken.

The main two things that make a helmet safe is the amount of crush-able foam and a snug fit. These are the two crucial things. So, the more the foam, the better chance the helmet has the chance to decelerate the kinetic energy, permanently deforming the foam (then needing to throw away the helmet!). You are more protected with the greater thickness of crush-able foam that you use. A snug-fitting motorcycle helmet would have a greater thickness of foam and allow for more deceleration. If you don't mind the heaviness (and sometimes visibility restrictions) of these helmets, then go this route, as it's not a bad option.
Professional athletes of many sports are continually balancing function(lightweight, comfort, visibility) with safety. My particular area of expertise is hang gliding. Unfortunately, we also get the opportunity to see the helmets in action, especially as we fly in a head-first position. I've been impressed with these helmets and wouldn't endorse them otherwise. As you can imagine, my school is striving hard for preventive measures, as the consequences are major.

Other safety aspects besides snug fit and foam thickness is visibility.
Visibility ranks so high on my list that I personally wear an open face helmet, as I'm striving to see everything! (including pick up on wind changes, temperatures, and thermal-updraft scents). -Of course my choice is only personal, as we sell quite a few full-face helmets.
Speaking of visibility, be sure that your visors (full-face or open helmets) are not only clean and unscratched, but also have a curve and shape that does not distort your view. I've seen this happen especially with some manufactures that have attempted to create an aero look and design, by elongating the front of the helmet (like some of the Charly Insider models).

Try on and inspect many helmets. Be choosy.
If you like technical stuff about the Icaro design standards see here.
I'll put our own Australian website here again.
We stock most models and colours and usually ship on the same day.
Our online shop is in progress, so you'll need to call or email for the time being.

I hope this helps. Be sure to get further eduction from additional sources (there's a lot out there).
Feel free to hit-me with any other Q's or comments.

Hey there, Just wondering if the point on the "The Icaro 4fight LT Integral Helmet" would be bad in a crash for your neck? i.e. control your neck when crash, making it worse?
Hi Ashley,
Good "point"...
Depends on you how fall, really.
Yes, the tail has the slight potential to "catch" and create some leverage on your neck. I haven't seen/heard it happen with the tail, but yes, it could be possible...
On the same note: with some falls you'd be better off without a full-face helmet (!) as the chin guard can limit your the amount that you can tuck your head into the protective fetal position, and it can also create unwanted leverage on your neck. -but, of course we know a chin guard can save dental work...
What it comes down to is...how are you going to fall? And this is most always an unknown.
Weigh it all up, and see where the balance for you is: safety, function, performance, and how you might (!) fall
The Integral CUT is a sweet helmet, if you are skeptical about the tail. This model has a slightly larger shell, with only slightly more drag.
Again, crush-able foam thickness and snug fit are key factors in a safe helmet.
I'm sure you are aware to replace any helmet that has ever been dropped or taken a hit. The foam and shell are designed to deform with a blow, instead of your head.
Hope this helps,
Good Luck,

they looks sick when im good ill be giving u a call.. (much later) haha good luck
how do i pick a helmet thats going to have a snug fit without trying it on? considering your shop is in NSW and im in southeast QLD
Hi Michael,

You should be able to nail it on the first go, after a measurement of your head.
Small 56 cm, M 58cm, L 60cm, XL 62, XXL 64
Our policy is to make sure you get it right.
The internal padding is interchangeable.
But, if needed we can send you another set of padding at NO charge.
You'll just need to send us the unused bits.
Or if you'd like, if you think it's going to be a close one, we're happy to send you another set/size with your original helmet purchase. (same gig, send us the unwanted set back).

The Integral Cut actually has two size shells:
one for S-L and a larger shell for XL and XXL.
If you are between a L and XL (different shells) and need a another shell sent up, we'd need a deposit if you'd like two helmets sent to you.

The interchangeable padding not only lets you wash and replace it, but also let's you use two different sizes...I use a larger size in the winter when I'm wearing a balaclava. -something you don't have to worry about in QLD.

Again, most of our clients get it right on the first time, but if skeptical, let us know and we'll send two sizes of the padding.

Curt on occasions the idea of having an intercom system for skaters has been discussed . How could you do this?

Hey Guff, using an intercom would be EASY. They are often used this way for hang gliding and paragliding.
I imagine you would be using the small 1 watt "home-band" units, am I right? You could do it yourself or pay me to install it something.
It would be sweet to skate while chatting to your mates. I do the same while flyin'. -very fun.

I can vouch for these guys
I have a small 4flight lt I got about 2 weeks ago off curt. It's the most comfortable helmet I have worn, I think a medium would suit most, and if your head is that much bigger then get a large.

Had a small problem with the helmet but got it sorted straight away, great customer service.

THANKS NICK
Send us a good pic, when you get one. I'm hoping to catch ya in Bathurst this weekend...
-Curt
