ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Hey Everybody,

I have recently ventured into a form of downhill skating known as FREEBORDING (intentionally no 'a' in board). It involves a 6 wheeled skateboard which mimics the ride of a snowboard, but on the streets instead, allowing you to slide your board with ease and even simply perform 180's and 360's... It's such a thrilling ride. For more info on Freebords you can check out the website at www.freebord.com.

My reason for signing up with the ASRA was to enquire amongst my fellow skaters as to anyone who lives or has skated around the Coffs Harbour area. I would just like to chat with some people who know the area and possibly suss out some potential hills that could be bombed.

The thing about freebording is that it's quite difficult to establish momentum with push starts, so they are primarily a downhill board. Also the longer the hill the better, as you would already know, it's not very pleasant skating a hill for 30 seconds and then taking several minutes to walk back up.

In terms of gradient, road condition and distance, the Dorrigo to Bellingen bendies looks ideal, however traffic is obviously an extreme danger. This is again why I am reaching out to you guys, I would love to find hills that suit these conditions with minimal traffic, long/windy hills and a nice hot mix surface, but I have driven myself around town and the best area I have found is the new estates in Toormina/Sawtell, but these roads are still not long enough.

So if anyone has suggestions of great spots in or surrounding Coffs Harbour I would be greatly appreciative. Also, if there are any other freeborders out there, or even just longboarders that want someone to bomb hills with and maybe film some videos, hit me up and let me know.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to your responses.
