ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Gday guys,

Pitbull and iris pictures have teamed up to produce video coverage of this years event and are now an official media partner with ASRA for newtons playground world championships 2009.

The name of the project is downhill republic

Firstly what we hope to achieve is a higher level of media coverage for downhill sports both here and internationally.

Secondly we really want to show how broad and diverse the community is. We want to get inside the minds of the riders and find what attracts them to the sport we all love, And of cource the main thing is to show just how strong the scene has become.

We will be profiling some of the well known and also the unknown riders and officials involved in downhill , As well as doing some random interviews before and after Newtons. we will also be covering all the action from the event itself

We will be broadcasting the whole event in early 2010 on the Big Pond Sports TV network and mobile platforms as well as producing a much more detailed DVD product for retail sale for both here and the international market.

We will also be asking some of the higher ranked riders to join us on the panel of big pond sports weekend before the event

What we would like to know is what do you guys want to see come out of what we film ?

We would also like to talk with anyone who has a passion for filming downhill and we would love to work with you !

We will be showing up to newtons with a 11 man film crew on the Friday morning , We hope to knock out most of the main interviews that day and then concentrate an the action for the following two days, Im sure most of the Aussie guys know Kanufi he will be liaising with all the interviewees over the weekend so if you have any questions just PM him via ASRA or give him a buzz on 0415855995

I just want to thank ASRA for supporting us and helping out over the last few months and we are totally gagging to smash out what we think will be a top notch product for this years newtons and beyond

Also if you don't want to be filmed during the event please PM me via ASRA or call me direct on 0435228503

Anyway see you on the mountain !

Cheers

Benny

sounds wicked benny, can't wait to see it!!
Interviews with Mischo,Scoot,Erik,Switzer,Daddow,Leeso,Jacko,Team Early,Adrain, a focus on juniors division, womens downhill riders. Katy Champion representing in classic and street luge definetley deserves an interview.Main and general riders from all disciplines Diversity of riders competing. Be cool if you could get a pan off overseas riders holding up their nations flags if they bring them.
There was a lot of footage of Kanufi on evolutions and not the high performing riders like Jackson and Daddow? Maybe a bit more balanced this time.
An interview from at least one rider from each state.
I don't want to harp on BUT I WILL FOR YOUR SAKE as far as we can make out we are the only sports therapists still participating in the sport and treating people; sports people treating sports people, skaters treating skaters, extreme sports treating extreme sports etc. this is our first year with ASRA and it is VERY SLOW but we are here for the long term as we will be at all ASRA CHC events next year. Publicity for what we are doing may kick other sports therapists around the world to do the same, not to jump on and make a buck (Newton's is costing us around $3,000 and we are on track to recoup about $500 to date) but to do it to keep the boys & girls rollin' and riding in ALL disciplines....this year the therapist we are bringing along is from a short board and dirt surf background and I had my first board in around 1975.
Skateboarding has moved on and we have moved with it, skateboarding IS a sport and as sports therapists we are treating it as such.
I think that may be an aspect not covered by anyone yet.
Sweet , thanks for the reply mic , we will be doing our best to get as many local guys and girls we can , As well as the stand out os guys, up to ten guys and gals all together , I wish we could make it balanced in every vewiers eyes and we will try our best,

cheers benny

Thanks for the feedback Mic, we are going to have a line up of pretty much all the people you have mentioned. A good balance of the whole downhill scene. And i promise you mate i wont have my ugly dial in this one.
Hey mate I'm going to be there doing a similar thing unfortunately there is only two of us, but it is a smaller production maybe we can have a chat when we are there. It's good to see that there are going to be a few people there creating the proper coverage for our sport.
Hi dude,
