Heading up to Airlie Beach for a couple of days and thinking of taking my board - anyone know if it's worth it - i've checked it on Google earth and looks like there a few windy roads ? Just wondered if anyone knows for sure ?

Check in with the Madley lads, they are in prosi, but i'm sure they know the area well enough.
nice one thx Grits
theres a few awesome hills up there , heading out of airlie towards prosopine turn left about 15 mins out of town , theres a big hill called Stairway to heaven , it so steep they call it that cause when youre drivin up it seems asif ya gonna go to the sky , ask any old school local in town and theylle give ya specific directions . a few good ones also between the town and shute harbour , the road has been re done and is smooth , but you got cops going from shute and back about every 15-20 minutes so ya wanna time it right or hoping they are having a good day ,
Hi Simon,

Highway to heaven is called staniland drive, it is off Strathdickie road.

You will need to do it early in the morning as the road it intersects with gets busy and stays busy most days, especially when the crush is on.

Another one just back from that is Camielle drive very steep and one sharp left hand corner near the bottom, get that wrong and you will feel it for a long time.

We are hoping to meet up with some locals for a skate, luge, buttboard whatever on a few of these hills, hit me back on this site or email me on shane@thesk8penguin.com.au and we arrange something if you want.

Cheers,

Shane
Definitely bring the board. The only problem with the roads is that they're pretty narrow and cars park half on/half off the road.

It's good stuff though. I take heaps of my mates out there and get them ripping. Shoot me a line when you're up here and we'll see what we can do.

Peace
contact steve sheely through the site he has been up there.
