The City of Goldendale has responded to vandalism at the campgounds by skateboarders at the Maryhill Festival of Speed and is reluctant to host the event again.
It's sad that a minority of people have messed about with the people of Goldendale and also messed about with the reputation and future of the sport they represent.

look at the bathurst car race it is so entrenched in aussie culture that not even a full scale riot can stop the race from going ahead .This year they have more police than ever with extreme measures to limit consumption to 1 carton of full strength beer per person per day. I know i would be pissed off limiting my drinking to only one carton.
isn't the car race just an excuse for heaps of car heads to get maggoted for 4 days as the cars go round and round?
Neems like a much better event to me.
it is a shame that maryhill has been threatened by a small group, I'm sure if the majority show support and assist, the locals will contunue with the event. From what Ive read about the event, they do a great job and the event is good for the small community.
