they resealed scenic with new hotmix... unfortunately they redid the part that was already smooth and left the rough down the bottom as it was, spewing, would be way more fun if you didn't have to hit the rough at top speed.

well at least its out there now and people kno what to expect,..so now anyone who turns up and complains about the quality of the hill can be punched and told''we told ya so idiot''..haha.

good job getting crew together phil,..china bomb scenic for the cash if you have to.

the way i see it is it's better to have a smaller group of local stoked riders who know what they're in for then having a big group of people rock up who have travelled for it and have big expectations which might not be met. just trying to get a good description of the hill out there, certainly not trying to dis Phil or the event.

Just getting track conditions so people can decide. I'm not knocking the hill just telling it like it is. Its a fun freeride hill and im all for ha Ing a race on it. Just saying, I wouldnt come much further then a couple of hours for it. And bring you big soft wheels ;-)

the format was chosen so that it could be repeated easily, by anyone, anywhere. if you dont want to risk travelling to this event and not getting to skate much, I would encourage you to organise a similar event on one of your local hills, on a different day to this one if possible, and post it up here too (that way everyone can decide for themselves if they want to make the effort to get there).

lets get this straight, Ive organised this as an event that does not take all day so that you can ride other hills after, or before if you are an early riser.  this is partially because its not an epic hill, its only a small hill, and has a less than ideal surface. its an eliminator so if you bomb out on your first race you wont get to race another heat, but theres not lots of heats to worry about anyway, wait an hour and you can ride the hill again or just go elsewhere. its a SMALL grass roots style of race on a less than ideal hill, you dont have to come if you dont want to. I certainly would not travel long distances specifically to compete in this race.

as far as my thoughts on the surface goes, yes it vibrates your feet, its not as rough as a road finished with large coarse rocks, its very drifty, but its quite manageable. IT IS NOWHERE NEAR AS ROUGH AS BOMB SNOWYS.

nah mate, have a look at the map link, no corners just two slight bends. you'll have to stop somehow when you get to the bottom though

I just went for a drive to checkout this hill, was wet at home so didn't take my board. I'll copy and paste another locals description of the hill because I pretty much agree with it all except that i'll add that the hill is about 700m max all up.

"Really open tar (would have been smoot hotmix back on its day but has copped the coastal punishement) few patches and crack (most avoidable or insignificant). The main issue with the hill is you feel the vibrations fairly hard when speed picks up over 40-50ish. The surface gets worse toward the end of the hill which doesn't help but It should still be a relatively safe road to race. Pads with plastic caps are probs the way to go, the surface would shred through a set of jeans and tsg pads I would expect. You would be pushing to get over 60 at a rough estimate. The road is relatively straight so falls would most likely be onto your pucks, there's nothing to wild that going to throw you off in a bad direction."
