    Alex where do you live.

  • Kiwi Alex

Guff, I live in Sydney city - Surry Hills area. About 2 minutes from Central station.

Thanks for the links Mark, I'm going to try and come to PC's fast 50th Slalom next weekend but I'm keen to have jam for fun, not in a race situation, most of the buddies I've made here are into downhill/sliding and I want to experiment in a new discipline

Hey Alex, Hope you can make it up next weekend. I've put a few more details up about the course on the events page for the Fast 50.

Even though it's a race. It's a single lane course, so your sort of racing the clock & yourself, trying to improve your time each run.

It's a great way to get a feel for racing & build your confidence. You likely start fun little rivalries with riders of similar ability & push yourself that little extra.

    Cheers.

hi my name is lucas and i was hoping u guys might be of some help to me. i have always been madly interested in slalom and as my quiver increases i decided that my next setup will be a slalom board. so i was thinking about, i had a setup in my mind it was, for the trucks Bennett .x. Tracker rt-s and for the wheels Seismic Hot Spot   84A in the front and 81A in the back. so i wanted to know about  a deck u guys would recommend ? or even better if there was any one selling a beginner level slalom setup? thanks so much lucas

  • Cents

I'm selling a very good condition louis ricard for $90. Try to get really soft bushing up front and super hard in the back.

    Fitz

i can fix you up with a Bennett Randal truck combo with wheels and bearings.
    much better than tracker RT's.
  • Lucas

hey guys thanks so much i will just save up some extra cash so i can buy everything at once, i will get in touch with u fits and cents when i have the cash. also another question what type os slalom do u guys practice, ts,hs, or gs ?

    Thank god!

Stuffed the settings up on my board and finaly after about 18 months of making it worse I think I have it sorted. Was never realy bad just not good and every change I made seemed to take it further away from perfect.

Now thats done and it feels really good,I just need to learn to ride it fast.

Sounds good Dave, post up your final settings you have Gogs and Pavel? Im sure other would be interested.

World Champs just finished in Stugardt. Rain and TImer probs. With all the ASRA expertise we should host the World Champs here one day. GS seems to go off ok.  No-one able to touch Joe Mac!

Anyone up for a trip to the next ones in Texas late 2013!

  • Robbo

Tried that one before, its a stitched up deal between Euros and Americans. The ISSA isn't really interested in Australia

  • Boomerdog

    I'd give it a go.. :)

Hey Boomer I should have known you be up for a skate trip! I've pencilled it in. Just need to organise side trips to Disneyland etc to keep the skate points up!

Anyone noticed the new Sk8Kings 2X Truck System (lame name...). Look great for anyone with few Randal baseplates wanting to set up a board.

  • Boomerdog

    hey marek, i'm sure they 'd give me a go...lol... uk,u.s & au ties,which passport will they(issa)  accept for entry?...lol... \m/

  • Boomerdog

got a message from the issa president saying its ok to compete in their races...game on...

Hey Dave I'd be happy to have a session this weekend, need plenty of practice before Canberra, maybee at Bugs' local haunt at Rushcutter Bay on Sunday evening could be good. It's flatish but good practice for Canberra. Anyone else up for this Sunday evening about Sunset, I can bring cones.

Sunday evening could be good for me at my picturesque local haunt.

Don't worry Alex we do this regularly, twice a year!. But maybe we could have another session before Canberra too.

Tommorrow night is on then. See you there about sunset. It is at Rushcutters Bay just next to the CYC. It is basically flat so good for any level slalomers.

  • Kiwi Alex

Looking forward to have another go at slalom, just putting the word out that I'm looking to buy a beginners set up so if anyone has any ins...

  • ASRA Admin

    Bugs

I'm gonna set a little course at another local (to me) spot this Sunday around 3.30. All welcome. There's no lights here, so we'll have to finish by about 5.30.

It's at the very northern tip of Moore Park, near the gazebo where Anzac Pde, Fitzroy St and South Dowling St all converge. It's a gentle slope - you might call it Stromlo-esque.

Was a nice spot thanks for sharing Bugs.

Warning, Bugs is threatening to set a very tight course for Canberra, and today threw in a couple of big offsets too. He has a new looser surf style setup and is working on a Karate Chop technique.

I have a secret video and can share for a price (well really the bloody thing won't  upload to vimeo...)

  • ASRA Admin

    Bugs

Shhh, the course will be loose and "longboard friendly". Or maybe something else. And everybody must ride it switch to qualify for the race.
  • Atari

hey guys, craig here, not sure what my name was last time i was a member but my extra long rambling posts may jog your memory.

anyways i got 2x Pavels & another set of Homer+RacerX since last spoke.

also my Roadster got run over by an oblivious 4x4 driving soccer mom.

bought Pirnack TS but it just felt weird to me, the camber is "different"

so bought the new 2012 Roadster till i work out what to do about it all.

(donald made a new Roadster & luckily i got the 1st one ever sold in world!)

it's thicker & stiffer than the older Roadster, has carbon fibre on top & bottom instead of just bottom, it's slightly more concave & now has "stealth" edges where it counts......digs a bit deeper & pumps a bit faster.

(donald did the same edges as on the Pavel Stealth...pics on ISSA)

it's just the best all-round slalom/cruising/pumper rig you ever will ride!

i need to take new pics because my grip job wraps around the stealth edges now & i have it sitting lower.

anyways u guys may want to know that Pavel have stopped all there old models & donald has made new 2012 ones......there are some big GS decks in the new line-up which sound awesome........i want one so if anyone wants a spanking new 1hour old Pirnack pls message me.

might be selling my other GoG Homer too, i may need a Foxy for downhill GS

Sound like a killer rig nice Atari.

I'll have to check out the new models on ISSA.

If your anywhere near the Central Coast of NSW on the 20 & 21st of Oct

you might like to come along & give it a run.

Saturday is Drain racing at Kincumber &

we have a fast hybrid slalom race on at Warnervale on Sunday.

Check it out in the events page. ' The Kincumber Klassic' & 'The Warnervale Roadkill 100'

    Hope to see you there.

  • Atari

thankyou PC, appreciate the welcoming vibe

It think we need someone to visit Brisbane and CG with a re-wiggulator to restart the QLD slalom scene.  There is an off road event that the organiser indicated, could fit them in on the 21st of this month, and if they don't get a pulse back soon they will miss it.

    Skittles??? you still interested???

What the event Bernie ?Might be someone up there keen.

Brad Sterritt has Jackos' timer up there for a Luge time-trial event today.

I'll give him a call to let him know & see if there's any interest.

I was talking to Jezza & Stevie during the week, they mentioned getting some more slalom going up on the Gold Coast again.

They have ramps & cones. Come on Qld.

    This Event.....

    http://www.skateboardracing.org.au/events/lakeside-park-raceway-fre...

Quote:"The event will be at Lakeside Park Raceway, which has a intermediate downhill course (with corners, several infact), and several straights we will use for slalom and freeride competition events."

Come to think of it EVERY closed road event should have a spare couple of hundred metres for a serious or demo slalom event or 100 cone challenge.

It would be nice for the downhillers to pick up cones for their timekeepers once in a while, and who knows a few of them might even like to give it a go.

Skate everything. Thanks Bernie, I'll let him know.

  • Pablo Ballester

I´m new on slalom scene here in Aus /Qld, but yes I agree next Sunday is a MUST for a Giant Slalom, C´mon guys will be fun to race on that circuit, let´s organize something, Calvin said slalom was out cause no interest, but open to make a demo with cones there.

Bernie, Pc..and the rest let´s meet there, I would like to cooperate with you to push the slalom here, I´m the president of SSSA Spanish Slalom Skateboard Association and ISSA national Spanish coordinator, so quite little experience with races, and happy to help here.

    Thanks, Pablo

    Hey Pablo.

Maybe get in touch with, Stephen Daddow (Daddow Skateboards), Jeremy Rogers (Early SkateboardsAust.) or the Monkeypig crew

crew up in QLD to reignite the interest. I know they're all keen to get more young riders into it & do a few more events.

    Hope you get it rolling.

After the seeing how much stoke little kids got from lining up with the big kids at Bulleen Snake run back in March, we could not resist putting on something just for the next generation!

So are going to put on a special event for the pre-groms at Monbulk.....

Under 15 Penny Slalom....brought to you by Penny!

is there an Australian made slalom deck?

  • ASRA Admin

    Bugs

Steve Daddow in Qld makes cutting-edge slalom decks. As good as anything, maybe better.
  • Ben freifeld

    Anyone know about Gecko decks?

The SLE only weights 600 grams! plus the bolt holes are nylon tubes in-bedded in the carbon.

    sounds good...?

  • Premium Member

    Fitz

Gecko are the highest quality made decks (chime in now Donald to spew venom). Unfortunately their range lacks because of the expensive production technique they use. The decks are closed moulded and completely sealed. No sharp edges from machining. You really have to see and hold one to believe it.
I had to sell mine shortly after buying because it was to small for my wider stance and large feet. Very regrettable sale but too expensive to just hang on the wall.

  • Premium Member

    Dave M

Rosco and Paul have Geckos in Canberra. Realy good decks. Like Fitz said they are a bit narrow in the arse for my likeing. My last purchase was a Daddow foam core. Realy good quality also and Aussie Made. Get on one!

    Conrad To

I have a brand new set of tracker rts/rtx for 50$ if anyones interested, also have heaps of bushings and angled wedges

  • Ben freifeld

Thanks Dave and Fitz, Im currently riding a sk8kings mini shredder, because I love a shorter wheelbase for any type of slalom. Later I might use it as a template for a custom foam-core I guess?

  • Lucas

hey guys looking into getting my first slalom deck for a while i have been researching setups and noticing how importnat the trucks so i was wondering wich of these would be the best combo
