painting paris
hey guys just wondering how should i paint my paris, i have tried to paint trucks before but they turned out terrible, dont wanna screw this up also any ideas on colours?

a technique you could use is dusting (if you dont know what that is ill fill you in right now)
first off paint doesnt adhere to metal very well so you will need to "ruff up" the trucks with a fine grain wet and dry sand paper.
then lightly apply some primer (with an airbrush if you have one) in very light coats so the paint doesnt gather in pools or drip.
Then apply the first base coat, again in very light coats. Do this about 5 to 8 times depending on the look you what.
Then apply 5 coats clear closs enamel for longativity of your paint job, wait 48 hours for them to fully dry, then go show off your new custom trucks.
IMPORTANT-(inbetween coats use a hair dryer to dry the previous coat)
Im sure your thinking by now that this is a very intencive process but the results speek for themselves!

^ Yeah and cover axles and pivot cups, I used graf paint Molotow or Ironlak, didn't do any of that primer shit cos its a really thick paint (molotow is)and is made for painting metal or anything so it will stick, It will go fine if you do light coats with a build up to a thick coat of paint, just do a light sand of all the old chips and stuff

Same method as painting cars.
The trucks already have paint on them so if you get a scourer from your kitchen sink and scrub them down with a wee bit of dish washing liquid that will do for sanding (means you don't need primer too). You will know when you have rubbed enough because once you dry them off the paint will be dull, if you see any shiny spots then scrub it until it is dull too.
If you are using a metallic paint you need a clear coat, if you are using a solid colour no clear is needed. Like was said cover your axles, the bushing seat should be OK if you just put a lighet coat on. DOn't go nuts, just cover it.
Two coats should be enough witha spray. Don't go ultra heavy on the first, just enough so that you can see the your new colour. Second coat is for coverage but again, don't go nuts. If you do decide to use a hairdryer between coats, hold it at a distance and keep it constantly moving so you don't over heat the paint and blister it. The idea is to heat up the metal, not the paint.

I tried to paint a cheap set of old trucks but they turned out terrible haha the paint did blister and there were drip marks everywhere. So I tried the other truck and it didn't blister but I still got drip marks and also the coats were very un even.
So I'm going to keep trying to paint other old skateboard trucks that I have lying around. By the way guys these are raw Paris so will I still have to use the steel wire.
I ordered a 2012 vugenhausen which is all black co our this year so I'm thinking either white or a metallic gold?
I'll post pics when I'm done :)
