A NSW kid has died after a mishap from skitching.
Im not sure if he was wearing a lid or not but this does raise concern to the danger of skitching vehicles, even if your mate is driving.

now the mate is been charged with his death, imaine that! your best mate just died and your going to jail for it!

Skitching with out a helmet isnt the best idea to begin with ! But who hasnt done any dumb shit in there life before, And its straight up and down wrong the coppers are charging his mate the poor dude will have to live with what happened for the rest of his life. The last thing he needs is a holiday at the queens expense.. But once again the police are going to try too make an example out of a poor kid that was just mucking around with his friends.. there is no intent and no cause just pure accident

there is no intent and no cause just pure accident?????

Yep, hanging onto the back of that ute was a sure thing for a very long life!

That was no accident, that was a failed exercise in tempting fate.

Not so sure that the coppers are being too hard.  Serious punishment might be what the driver needs to help him to deal with his part in the death while not being charged could potentially be just as bad.

Either way two families suffer.

Yes Families suffer.. but do you think sending a kid to jail will help him deal with it..??? He has the rest of his life  waking up with nighmares. so called friends turning there back on him. dealing with the gossip and rumours in his home town. im not saying he didnt do anything wrong.. obviously he has.. but he shouldnt get punnished more by going to jail.

In 2006 46% of the inmates at one of Victorias juvenile detention centers were culpable drivers most of which had killed there best friend in a car accident. Most had good backgrounds with no history of crime. Raised in stable familys... yet the police branded them criminals and locked them up... Since then many have struggled to get there life back to normal No one employs young men on parole.. Making new friends and moving to a new town aint easy either.... Australian jails are at bursting point right now.. we need to find another way to handle such case's .. and no i dont have the answer. i have attended heaps of workshops with police, comunity members, social workers and inmates and whatever the answer is its not going to be easy to implement but it has to be better than sending young men that did somthing stupid and will pay for it with the rest of there lives to jail

you are right there is no easy answer.

heard it on the radio. After the deaths and injuries of the skitching craze a few years back, its pretty sad to see it crop up again.
