What no more mongo love? I only just found out it was called mongo a couple of years ago.  I started in 1971 and there was no mongo it was just normal.  My preference was always tight back trucks and wobbly front; stable for 360s and tic tacs but still turny.  Back truck was stable for pushing too.

These days the availability of larger boards means that my back foot can be in the middle of the board providing good control and pushing power.    I use the central position for footbraking at low to medium speed or brazilian style for higher speed.

i had an old gator in the 70's , reckon was about 33 inches long , not too short !! for the day anyways , my bro 3 years younger than me pushed normal , but im bloody mongo , used to steal the old mans silicon gun and fill up small icecream containers and try to make shit in em to put our hands in for goin down hills ,needless to say it didnt work real well , in my defence was only 7 years old,  bloody funny

YEAH.......MONGO RULES!

How small are the boards! Brings back memories of my size 13 foot on such a small board.

Kanufi, sounds like a true brother. LOL! We did the same things with the rocks all over the school yards. Never thought of running over each others rocks though. Your bro took it to the next level.

My 1st board was circa 1970. Natural mongo kicker that tic taced  and front foot carved with rocks in our hands to leave white marks to see where we had been.Still have the scare from where my brother caught up to me and ran over the rock while i was still holding it. But the boards then where crap which barely fitted a size 9 shoe aboard.
