ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Dear Groms......

there is no such thing as a "best" wheel, board, truck, bushing, helmet, glove or anything*. Deal with it.

Ok people, add your contributions.

Winge winge winge yak yak yak yak. People talk too much shit before even knowing what's going on. Just rock on in at the last minute and think they know what's what and reckon they can call people out and tell em how it is when they got no idea what's going on. They think they know the scene, hve full understanding of the market and the workings of the longboarding world all from behind the keyboard...

This thread is a message to all those groms who dribble shit, but now it's a general discussion about EVERYONE dribbling shit. Check your status in this longboarding world BEFORE you think you know what's what... Too many people rocking up at the last minute and telling everyone else how it is. News for you guys: we built this house with our BARE hands, and your coming in with bulldozers.

I've said this many many times before in a bunch of different ways: stop keyboarding, start skateboarding...

If it upsets you that much we should shut it down.

Maybe you know someone who can make it happen.

Retarded thread, Beet's a troll, someone shut it down before it gets even worse

sorry guys, just because a guy who knows what he is talking about, gives a new company some advice that is straight and to the point,..doesnt mean he is trying to own the scene,.or shut them down, calling him arrogant and big headed etc is not fair, everyone puts up with everyones shit on here,..but getting personal is not cool.

Fun and games is all good, having a joke and ocassionaly stiring the pot definetly adds some humour, but a lot of people want to also read some substantial and informative content,.especially from the people who have contributed a lot of their lives to the cause, and actually have lots to give.

Dont want to sound like im taking sides,as everyone has lots to offer this great community,.but jackos dedication to every avenue within this sport is not even remotely questionable..if you are unaware of all the facts, its probably a good idea to keep your opinions to yourselves,

cant even believe this has to be said,as 98% of people involved in skateboard racing know this,.but apart from his own goals he has been successfully seeking,.he has already put on more events, gave more advice, committed more time, spread more stoke, made more films and skated more klms of bitumen than most people ever will,

it is the people who are most passionate about somthing that are always the big contributors toward it,.

to see the growth and how things have become is a very satisfying high that noone will ever bring us down from.

without industry leaders, role models, and good riders to look up to,and people willing to devote their time, the sport is doomed...

There was a time that when a question was posted (no matter how dumb) it was answered.

It was the pioneers of ASRA and the guys that lived and dreamed skateboard racing giving the responses.

Not many of them left here now. All given up with the crap on here.

Not just the groms posting shit either, and when someone does poke their head up and comment constructivly it gets shot off.

Wont be long until its all just grom talk and bullshit here.

Spot on. Don't forget to, that a lot of these people have known each other for years too. Not just over the internet but have skated with one another, traveled with one another and camped on each others couches for years. It is the same with any community, work place, school, uni or club. If you are a new member you give respect to the older members, those that know how the club runs and who the people are. You don't barge in telling the club what's what, handing out advice to all the fella's that have been involved for years. The word years is not strong enough, some of the people here are BEST mates.

I consider Jacko a mate. I consider him the reason I went to my first race in Sydney. He is also the reason I went on my first skatetrip to the snowy mountains. He also encouraged me strongly to go and race Maryhill in the US for the first time which hooked me on travel and racing. Jacko can be an absolute prick, as can we all but unlike most people (especially over the internet) I believe he knows when he is wrong or has made a mistake. He doesn't open his mouth on subjects he doesn't know about, if he makes a mistake he will apologise for it and when his opinion isn't needed he doesn't give it. He calls a fish a fish and a bear a bear. It is what it is with Jacko, you know where stand, you know how he feels. (this is not directed at anyone in particular).

(This is directed at Beet)

I am sick to tha back teeth of anyone over 40 thinking that they reign supreme over anyone between the age of 20 and 39. Seriously, if an old fella loses an argument or happens to make an ass of himself (which we all do) the first crap to spurt out of their mouth is ''your still young'', ''your just a boy'', ''wait until your my age''. You know the scariest thing to me about becoming old? Turning into one of those guys who believes that his age is a valid argument for any topic. I have met some people your age (not you, I quite like you) who are complete dicks. Total and utter wanka's and with a level of intelligence that my 5 year old niece has. So what does that mean? Do yourself a favour and this goes out to everyone in your age group. Stop using your age as an argument on every topic. You make yourself come across as a self righteous, narcissistic, know it all twat.

Wow, thought this thread was put up to rag on groms for being, well, you know.... gromish.... it's getting a bit too serious now :/

Agreed.

Dear groms,

Stay groms. Your rad. Just stay away from my inbox. Don't pay attention to the older guys fighting, we were just having a conversation. If you have any questions regarding angles, duros of wheels or bushings, new boards, trucks or wheels you want or the fastest bearings on the market send all enquiries to Sean Meaney. You will find him using that dusty old thing in the top right known as the ''search bar'' or something strange and mystical like that.

Dear Groms,

Specially any of you that have short boards or Penny's....don't respond you know who you are.

Have you tried slalom racing yet?????

Some of us "older guys" still dig it, and it is always a blast racing with Jacko.

You will be welcome at the next event and don't worry if you don't have the  "best" wheel, board, truck, bushing, we can always lend you a setup to try.

If any Melb Groms want to try, be at Fawkner Park on 29th Jan.

At the end of the day THE GROMS WILL RAYNE SUPREME. They are the future of our sport. + MOFOS I'd Rather Skate with one of my groms than any of the older crew on hear. Not to offend I just know they can throw down hard!!!!!

  PCTDS

Straight up!!!!!

The kids are alright in my world. :){x/:

To quote a Great Man

"People ask what gives me the authority to give advice?

I say, First of all, I don't give advice. Dr Phil gives advice.

Mr T helps people. I motivate them, I inspire them, I give them hope, and I plant the seed

so they can feel good about themselves."

Dear groms,

we don't hate you. Your gromish ways just drive us a bit nuts sometimes.

Now grab your board, go outside and GET SOME, ya little shred-mahines.
