The key is to have everything a constant except for the one thing you want to test as the variable. You could rig up a test station to control the actions you want to examine.
A simple weight on a strap wound around a wheel could provide the energy to move the wheel. When the weight drops it pulls the strap unwinding it. You could time how long the wheel spins for as it would be a direct relationship to friction on the bearing.
The weight would need to be dropped for the exact same height every time.
You could test the difference between abec 1, abec 5, abec 7 and abec 9. These are the different accuracy at which each bearing is made. The higher the number the more precise. You could also test oil and grease lube even dry.
VBX bearings can supply all different types.
I don't eally have time to go right into it but maybe that could get you started.
Perhaps a better methoud would be to have the wheel spin at 60km/h. The higher the speed the longer it will spin giving a more realistic test.
Sure, no probs. face is generally the term for a higher grade with less blemishes in the finish of the veneer. They are Longs (not cross). The centers are longs as well just not as "clear" as the face -there might be some less attractive grain patterns, but still nothing structurally bad about them... Does that make sense? Basically face and centers are both long, as you require ;)
