ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

On Monday 6 September ASRA old-timers Trav and Haggy will be setting out on their first long-distance sojourn.

The goal - Sydney to Canberra!

How many pushes do people think it will take to get to Canberra? Ten thousand, Fifty thousand? I really have no clue. And I won't be keeping track, so it will remain a guessing game. Well, that's better than the Crying Game. That's one surprise I could do without. "Huh, what Haggy? I don't get the joke." Watch the movie.

Hey Trav - just another 300,000 pushes to go mate!

The responses we have received from people are interesting. They range from "Are you crazy!" to "Rad!". And of course, lots of blank stares and "Why!??".

And to that question of "Why?", we say to you, all you doubters and naysayers, carpetbaggers and couch potatoes, we do it because we CAN! Like Hillary and Mt Everest, Scott and the South Pole, Bannister and the 4-minute mile - we do it because it's there...

Come rain, thunder, hail or lightning, wind storms, tornadoes or heat wave, cattle stampede or sheep attacks, we shall persevere!

Robtech - are you sure you still want to lend me your Deelite Nemesis??

300km of Australia's finest pavement! Can't wait...

Spoke to Haggy and trav at about 6pm. Apparently they have visited the 7th level of hell today. Skated 90kms they hoped would take 5hrs but in fact took them 9.5hrs across some of the roughest rd in the history of time. Both guys are totally shattered, haggy's was switching feet all day but recons his left knee has just been rattled to the bone. They came across one of those up hills you don't notice when you are driving in a car but was 8kms of rough as guts uphill. There was a 20km section that was smooth as but was very busy with trucks and cars so they skated on the roughest shoulder of all time only 12 inches from the smoothest tarmac you will ever see while looking at the smooth tarmac for 3hrs but unable to roll onto it.

Got a 75km schedule tomorrow
