Here's how you can turn your Radical into a GOG http://www.silverfishlongboarding.com/forum/longboard-skateboarding...

    They look cool:

But it comes down to what is avalable, so hard to get slalom gear.

  • Ben freifeld

These are some prototypes I'm working on, rear and front. They will be 7075 Al with Ti hardware and ceramic spherical bearings....I'm going all out on these babies! total build cost will be $300 for both trucks!

  • Lucas

just out of curiosity, would there be that great of a benefit in using ceramic spherical bearings?

  • Ben freifeld

Durability and a lower frictional co-efficiency. But really to be the first truck to use them i guess.

  • ASRA Admin

    Bugs

I don't think there would be. My understanding is that the man benefit of ceramics is that due to their thermal properties you can run them with little or no oil, which makes them faster. But the sphericals in a truck do not spin much at all, and do move at speed and would not get hot etc etc. So not much point.

Ben, if you're going all out I'd like laser-etched degree markings. And a pony.

  • Ben freifeld

well bugs the degree business will happen..eventually. When i get a couple of these things made, and you like them, then i can anodize them in any colour you want and laser-etch a pony on them...just for you.$400 bucks a set will be my mates rates. AND by having a lower frictional co-efficient in the spherical, there will be less "lean" resistance, not much but less.

a simple degree scale can be machined on.

numbers not required as not all truck mounting faces are flat zero deg.

    eg. kicktail mounted boards

  • ASRA Admin

    Bugs

I get that decks are not always zero degrees, but a number on the truck allows you to ad or subtract the angle of the deck to arrive at the "real" truck angle. Without a number, what do you have? How can you compare it to anything? You'd be lost - totally adrift with only the actual feeling of how it rides to make a judgement. How could a slalom nerd cope?

  • Premium Member

    Fitz

Yeah I know, but sometimes numbers can be misleading.

Standard scale increments of 1 degree with longer dashes every 5 deg.

    Easy ;)

    Here's how GoG do it

    http://www.pavel-skates.com/trucks/slalom/g-o-g-homer/g-o-g-homer-a...

Even the top shelf trucks require the use of high tech pencils. :)

  • Ben freifeld

See, I just use a modified RC touring car camber gauge to find the right angle. It's about $25 and works on any truck, precision or not.

  • Mark Gorman

Is it Asra or is my pc having a cow,  I cant see any slalom points Could there be some major movement in the point score table imminent

    Okay guys,

I've run it by the boss re: slalom ride day, and I can't do either 1st or 15th sept.

The 8th is looking real good for me about now. Lets say we get another one of our family friendly get togethers at Allawah and shred some cones.

  • Mark Gorman

    :)

I have written up our next slalom day as an event. Just waiting for Bugz to approve.

Its the easiest way to get details out and hopefully some exposure to new people interested in coming along.

My Wife and Son should be coming so bring the family if you want.

PC always brings good news for slalom!

Damit, I can't get there again... its Grand Final weekend and the wife's birthday.

Jeeze the points really get away from you when ya don't have enough races!

  • Premium Member

    Fitz

Faaaaark.......you Mtn carnts have been practicing again!

  • Premium Member

    Fitz

    Hey PC.

    That's great news mate.

Is it safe to book accommodation for those dates?

  • Premium Member

    PC

    Yeah Fitz.

All systems go. Can't change it now.

There's very few other dates we could of had without conflicting with other events. So much going on.

3 races over 2 days should be worth coming for.

    Hope to see everyone there.

  • Ben freifeld

Aww damn, anyone know a place nearby where we can pitch a tent? Anyone carpooling? I really want to go.

  • Premium Member

    Fitz

Beachcomber Hotel has a sale on at the moment.

    $90 for a waterfront room

They normally go for $160. If you plan on staying there get in while it's cheap.

It's where we normally stay and congregate when NACCOS put on a race.

  • retro racer

Mountain Mick has got this video sorted..well done endone.

    Good value FitZ

Booked in yesterday morning for Me Ben and Courtney.

Said I need disabled access for Bens wheelchair.

Got an nice email this morning saying they have upgraded us to a spa room for same price.

  • Premium Member

    PC

    That's rad Dave.

    You coming too Fitz?

Ben. Check campsite prices at Norah Head Holiday Park Free call 1800 241 343. It's close to the Beachie & central to both races.

Otherwise try to carpool & share with a crew or we might be able to find a bit of floor or somewhere to pitch your tent.

  • Ben freifeld

Thanks PC, I'll look into the campsite, or i could just pitch my tent hidden in the bush HAHA! And if anyone has spare room when driving down and happen to pass the Southcoast, Could I scab a ride? or I could take a coach down...

  • Premium Member

    PC

I'm sure we can find you some accomodation Ben. Even if it's a tent in my backyard or the couch.

Hope you find a lift up. Let me know if there's anything I can help you with.

    Hey Mark.
I heard thru the grapevine earlier this week about your "Dont Trip's"
Started drooling instantly when I saw the photo.
Bang for buck they look like the best trucks on the market at the moment.
Cant wait to have a lash next weekend.
  • Mark Gorman

Not a prob Fitz , feel good, need some more feedback on how they rate to other rkt . Still think i have a tad more work in the rear to get them dialed in to what suits me best, got them at -5, very hard to work out not having run reverse before, Louis Ricard is running - 3 (17Deg) some have at -7 and some flat , Very happy with them

  • Premium Member

    Fitz

    FYI
I set my GOG somewhere around 10 deg. Dead as for turn.
I love how they made a 20 deg plate for the rear.

    Marek

Wow lots of Slalom coming up! Any one run the Super GS road on the Central Coast? Should I just bring my Hybrid board or would I be better on my Voodoo Doll with wide trucks. Do we need to brake in the course? Slide (not possible for me) or footbrake?

  • Boomerdog

Yeah ran the course on sat..footbrake essential for bottom corner...or not depending on your ability/bravery at that speed...

  • Premium Member

    Marek

Hmm note to self, buy new shoes, work on footbrake or volunteer as a track marshall.

  • retro racer

Happy 60th birthday Mountin Mick...how was the endone?LOL

  • Premium Member

    PC

Marek. Last corner on the SGS course has room for a good staight footbrake before, with a good 20 metres without a cone to setup for the corner. you could airbrake & carve off enough speed if you don't hit the top corner at max speed.

Bring a few set ups to try, Or you can have  a run on my Daddow SGS 'Orange Monster'

Rear 130mm, 30* Seismic & front Destructo with ball pivot by Fitz & Indy baseplate. 24" WB. Beast.
