alternatively, sean is managable if he's within punching distance. his idea of a fight is bruising your knuckles with his face.. =]
dom: if you still don't know where the carpark is, i don't mind showing you where it is. thing is i'm busy packing for my flight home on thursday, so quickly make a meet up date =]
well, its supposed to be a secret location, and since this is a public forum, its ben said, that we won't post up the location of one of our fav spots. =S
the man is watchingg....
i'll add you as a friend, then i can pm you the directions. =]
I'll be back from Barringhup on the 10th unless my sister goes home early so that's the earliest I can skate, unless someone wants to do something on Thursday haha.
Anyone seen bombsquad's agent orange yet? that's one beautiful board.
yeah, Cameron, the only people left here are Dom, Jesse, Callum and I (i think), I think Ben's gone, Sean's gone surfing and everyone else is in other countries.
hey declan, in the garage, normally we gear up. half shells knee pads gloves. some even use elbow pads. the garage can be pretty fast, and its pretty safe to say that everyone has crashed once in it, if not, they've lost skin. its well advised to pad up for flinders =]
we had a guy who had a helmet...didnt wear it and slammed his head into a wall in the carpark. gloves and helmets!
dom, i recommend going to the carpark at night cause that's when its the least busy and security wont kick you out. watch out for the lifts they tend to get stuck while you're in it. always have a buddy with you!
yeah overseas unfortunately. wil be back sometime in february. well the point of having slide gloves is so you can get down low and slide. its always good to learn the coleman as your first slide in case you need to make a quick emergency stop (especially in carparks..cars backing out and stuff). and when you fall on your hands you kinda slide away the impact (and prevent sprained/broken wrists, i had to learn this the painful way).
get some thick chopping boards, industrial strength velcro when you have the time. silverfish is a good resource to learn all these things.
Dom, I can give you my old gloves, some of the pucks (thumb) are tiny and probably worth ripping off. I just need to go out and buy some of these gecko gloves that i found...
Also, I'm free tomorrow if you want to cruise around the city, I can show you where a few of the spots I've been to are if you like.
Yeah, I'm happy to skate, meet you at fed square at 10:30? If anyone else wants to come (Jesse or Callum) you're welcome to. We'll be going to flagstaff and Fitzroy I expect.
I'm out for tonight, we're going to the pub for dinner then coming home so I'll get back to mine at around 9 or 10...I filmed the road here which is skatable, there's another one about a stones throw away from our front door but you have go to into town (30 mins) then back out to get to it because there's no direct road.
definitely in for tomorrow though, i could do with a skate, haven't been out for a real one since before Christmas.
on second thought, I don't think I can sell you my gloves Dom, they're in crap condition, the pucks are peeling off the glove so there's not much life left in them, it wouldn't be fair to take your money.
hahahaha, gloves are a good start...in terms of the slide its self, get low, turn hard and try and take some weight off the board to let it brake out...
ok, slide gloves have a plate (plastic normaly) on the plam that alows you to "slide" on them you will (or should) rip though leather motobike goves in no time....
Yeah you have to make some slide gloves, they have 'pucks' on them which you can make out of nylon chopping board. Then you just velcro them to the middle of your hand (on the glove) and use that. Leather gloves will just stop you and your board will smash into some guys expensive car which will surely end up with your demise..
sorry callum, I should have got your number last night, did you end up turning up? we waiting for 50 minutes for you and figured you'd slept in or something.
Declan, if you're unable to make your own gloves, you could look at getting some of the ones that Fitzy made, the only downside is that they're $30 which is still pretty cheap.
