    Fendy

i'll try to get juan to come out as well.
  • Callum O'callaghan-daft

ok i just got home and slaped on some force trucks and speed demon 83a 65mm on it, before i start selling body parts to buy gear does anyone have any suggstions?, im geting a pair of randel 180 on a set up from ludi so i was thinking id swap the trucks, also geting some 90 and 95 duro bushings. the "team choice" from the landys site was bears and 97mm flywheels...anyone know where i can find anthing anywhere near that big lol
  • Gilbert

dont use 97mm flywheels unless you want to bend your randals/force axles, its rare that you'll ever need wheels that big anyway, go for 70-76mm wheels (otangs, bigzigs). as for bushings stick between 85a-93a for someone of your size.

    Ching

i think 97mm for now is overkill. those are huge wheels. boardshop should have them but seeing how they're fucking huge its gonna cost more than usual.

randals sounds good. what baseplates are they? if they're 50 maybe put 35degree force plates and randal hangers in the back and 50 randals in front.

95 are hard bushings! unless you're really heavy. get some venoms or reflexes :)

I can sell u a set of 90mm flywheels for $90. They're pretty new. I've only ridden them once.
  • Callum O'callaghan-daft

i'm about 70kg, i thought it was going to be a bit hard for me plus the fact the the board is droped and only 8" wide so i wouldent get much levrage...as for the baseplates im not sure will see when i get them...
i like the sound of big wheels as theres some pretty rough roads out here and the 65's are what you would call....smooth....also collecting some wheels with the stuff from ludi, not sure what they are but they look a a bit bigger the 65 in the pic....what are force trucks like? i picked mine up cheep so not sure of rep/qualaty

  • Premium Member

    Ching

forces are okay. they're basically randal copies. they're decent trucks but you read alot of mixed reviews in terms of quality.
  • Callum O'callaghan-daft

yeah they were cheap (50$) but they make a scarry clicking nosie when i turn hard to one side.....
  • stephen.mhsrider

the dh race is dewedged on both ends... you wouldn't really want to put 35* plates on it. Put 50*'s all round and wheels around 75mm.

hey i am coming tomorrow to test my leathers and full face out just so ya know, i dont think sophie is spending the weekend or even one night :( so yeah go skating.

also sunday night we got a filmer coming down who wants to do a small report on longboarding so basically just dont say too much to her but she wont screw us over (my family) though i got a feeling she will like oscar (hint hint, she is new in town) lets do some skating.

which forces you looking at? i use their 35 deg trucks on my evo and they are the shit callum you NEED to run 50-deg plates on your DHR as your going to get fuck all turn from it, you could also use indy's on it and still be very stable

    DA BEAR

    Codman,
The noise might be the bottom bushing washer/cup sliding from side to side or
your used to fixed kingpins like indi's, loose kingpins like force/randall
might move a bit, (doesnt have to be far) and make the noise.
Try backin the bushins off, turn the trucks by hand and watch everything
    to see what it is.
    Wayne.
  • Oscar

Whos this filmer who will apparently like me sean? Yeah so i told fendy already, but i saw a longboarder and told him to come on sunday. Hopefully he turns up. Might go tomorrow, not sure yet.

Go with us Oscar!!! I haven't seen u skate in over a month. Last week didn't count.
  • Gilbert

just bring the jacket sean you wont be needing the pants, you'll just be sweating your head off if you wear the full suit.

stoked, pretty decent turn out tomorrow for chirnside!
  • stephen.mhsrider

yeah the dh race is dewedged on both sides, i think it is 15 on the back and around 8 on the front. I remember seeing a side view on SF once but i cannot remember the exact angles.
  • stephen.mhsrider

actually 5* dewedge on front (as dale said) sounds about right.
  • Oscar

Chirnside looks like a hill, and a pretty ordinary hill from the photos and video's ive seen. Why dont we just go to fitzroy gardens, or flagstaff? Seems kinda pointless traveling for over an hour for a hill with a single straight road going down it..
  • stephen.mhsrider

Indys are twitchier and dont hold a line as well as randals and other reverse kingpin trucks. They fine for dh though, andrew mercado rides them and swears by them. They are better suited for sliding than DH IMO
  • Callum O'callaghan-daft

i hate indy's, i wont even ride them vert or bowl, i use tracker's and they have never let me down, solid, smooth, tough truck....kinda unrelated but indys are my pet hate....

  • Premium Member

    sean meaney

try trackers, indys and trackers run similar in my experience, you never know they could work great
  • Dale

i heard somewhere that trackers have a reaaaallly weird bushing seat which works perfectly with jim-z or eliminator bushings?
  • stephen.mhsrider

trackers turn more consistently than indys. The bent pivot also makes for a slower turning and more 'stable' ride.

  • Premium Member

    Ching

oscar, the hills are chirnside are steeper than any of the gardens, plus there are no cars and no pesky kids getting in your way!

ben has some tracker fastracks on his new avenger. so sean, bring your omni with your indys and you and ben bomb a hill and we'll see who wipes out first :)

  • Premium Member

    Fendy

oscar, you've nvr been thre. You can't really judge a hill by photos. Any dh skater knows that. The place where we sesh has no traffic and you can hit much higher speeds than fitzroy.
  • stephen.mhsrider

link to a vid of chirnside?

working on a short video hopefully wil be up by tonight or tomorrow morning :)
  • stephen.mhsrider

    awesome, thanks ching (:
  • Dale

I set my board up today, just stood around on it, had a bit of a bounce, it's got 10 cm of clearance unweighted, 5.5 with me standing in the middle of it...so i think i might have to fiberglass it now...seems pretty solid though =D

  • Premium Member

    Fendy

cool Dale. Can't wait to see the finished product
  • Gilbert

sean did most of the filming from chirnside, not very nice looking shots but yeah it'll do, got some good shots from today of callum (and fendy falling :D), will definitely be using it for my uni project.

we'll put up raw footages up, save the editing when we have more footage.

  • Callum O'callaghan-daft

ay g, good news (kinda) perents bought me megarampage tix's but its been called off, figger ill use the birthday thing to setup the dh race proply...so i would like to grab thouse randels off you g if thats cool (was it $60?) and i was thinking in terms of wheels's something round 83a (like the hardness of the speeddeamons) and 75mm or bigger....anyone know where i could pick up somthing like that?
