most probably leave city at around 8:30am - 9am if it's mtn hw. Probably a little later if it's just chirnside. There's no traffic at chirnside so it's not a problem to hit that area a little later

keep in mind its a saturday so there will be quite a lot of cars on mt hwy we should leave earlier if possible.

i wanna do arthur's seat again :( I think i'll hit it with hamish after my exams :)
  • Callum O'callaghan-daft

i like the idea of arthurs seat, its somwhat local for me, thats where i plan on learning to dh....
  • stephen.mhsrider

what is mtn hwy like? i am not super confident for dh so i dont wanna go out of my depth

Callum - Arthur's Seat is not really a good place to start DH. Sean couldn't even ride it. You probably would die going down that run. My killswitch almost went off the edge haha. Do mtn hw tucked the entire way before u even consider attempting Arthur's Seat.

Dale - Evo has been retired. I have it set up with Original S10's right now haha. Killswitch's my dedicated DH board.

Stephen - I'm pretty sure u can do mtn hw. It's a good intermediate run for training tucking stamina and endurance. If you're comfortable with speeds of 50-55kph, that's a good run for you. You can only reach those speeds if you really tuck.
  • Oscar

Fendy you sound like sean saying he would die doing that run. Callum, you wouldnt die, you would just get righteously mangled.

callum i aint too keen for real DH this weekend, if you want to learn some DH this weekend i am keen for some lighter runs

    Fendy

Dale - Depends on what kinda of set up you have the board on.... Of course turning is a breeze on the killswitch because it's 10'' wide at the front and back.

Oscar - I don't know wut ur talking about. You've nvr been riding there before. It's easy to lose control, go over the cliff, and fall to your death....

arthurs seat is okay. you just gotta be confident with footbraking and both toesides and heelside turns otherwise you're fucked. definitely wouldnt recommend it for beginners. mt hwy is the perfect spot to learn.

I think the best place to practice getting up to speed would be chirnside park. You can slowly work your way higher and higher up that hill without worrying about cars.
  • Gilbert

    what's 'real' dh sean?

i'm with fendy about arthurs, you need to be in control there or you'll lose a board over the cliff. good footbraking is a must i reckon.

real DH is anything in dandenong or arthours seat area
  • stephen.mhsrider

is mtn hwy a relatively straight bomb or does it have turns and stuff?

  • Premium Member

    Ching

stephen...if you watch juan's video you get a good idea. there are 2 right turns and a few left ones. nothing you cant handle.

mountain highway has lots of turns, but they are easy as fuck
  • Hamish

Oy don't talk about that spot it was spos to be a bit of a secret sesh
    it's a bit like waving a red flag at a bull.hopfully nufsaid!!!
  • Callum O'callaghan-daft

im verry confident with foot brakeing, but i raelly cant afford to lose a board over clif, anywhere in the south-east that would be good to play with?

Dale, killswitch doesn't really have a noticeable drop. You can't even see it. You'll have to run you hands along the bottom to actually know there's a drop in the board. I suggest you join us one of these weekends. I'll probably be riding it on saturday if we go to chirnside park. You should come along and try it out.
I havn't really ridden the evo+S10 much. It's definitely a nice cruiser with really sharp turns. I think it'll make a good long distance pusher.
