This is a group for W.A riders to join, so we can organise skate meets, downhill runs, carpark runs, city runs, Rottnest island runs and comps... all welcome.. lets get the ball rolling to build gatherings as held on the east coast....

    i havn't gone for a skate with out a helmet since that incedent and im forever going to wear a helmet while i skate...

    I make sure I have a lid on at all times on a board, even just standing on the board there is a small potential to fuck up, stack and hit your head. Helmets are cool and they save lives.     Zac, if that is your attitude towards helmets then I don't think you're in the right place. And won't be welcome skating us many of us. Every part of your body will heal eventually. Brain damage is permanent and therefore not worth the risk.

    Cool beans. Show them some gnar photos on the internet and that will speed up their decision.

     

    A helmet has saved my life on several occasions, most of which were when i have been chilling and not paying attention.

    I can chime in here,

    I ate it going down a mellow hill on my freebord (highsided myself which happens a lot freebording).

    I had a helmet in the car and didnt wear it (not cool looking, big and bulky, etc)

    I ended up in hospital with one of these

    It was acute and apparently I was a 1 in 100,000 chance of being very fucking lucky that I didnt die.

    If I wore a helmet I would definitely would be fine. I don't like my chances next time so helmet is always a good idea...

    Just started longboarding a week ago to give me something to do when the surfs not good.  Haven't been back in the water since :)  Been just skating around the Leederville area, esp the library carpark.  Would love to meet other fellow Perth LB'ers.
