@everyone, whats the common meeting place for city runs?
@Ian McGlynn, I used to ride with Howelly and a dude called foxy. Mosman park hell good hills for freebord.
Unfortunately sold the fb for cash after it put me in hospital with a subdural hematoma.
heavy dude! yeah as far as i know luke doesn't ride at all anymore, pretty sure i remember foxy 2! so is there a skate happening tonight? if so i might pop in on my way to the pub!
@Dan im in tonight just checked the weather for tomorrow! :P
shotgun morphsuit for costumed run!
@Ian if you come along let me know and ill be sure to bring my camera
@Subdural Rosco- stackers are multi-storey car parks, you take the lift to the top skate down and then get in the lift. They're generally pretty cruisy speed wise, if you want to find out more check out Dans youtube vids but just come along! oh and we usually meet at the fast eddies on murray st
damn, you guys missed out tonight - there were photographers taking shots of us at the top of "ol faithful" stacker (between Tiger Lil's and 78's) was mad, got slides, manuals and sidesteppin/dancin hapnin. word. good times.
Gnarpark was also good (as usual, if not better) because they've cleaned up a lot of the dust, definately a good time to visit before the weather gets too shitty to get to it. also finally nailed a bin-plant ha ha.. wooo - Mike V represent
my youtube channel is www.youtube.com/danbass85
theres a bit of Gnarpark footage on there plus a bunch of other small vids done with the camera on my phone..aint too bad
keen to get some vids n shots with my new one that ive just got. just need a decent crew run - come on dudes and chicks!
@lachy -yeah man im down with that.
city then onto kala sounds orite aye.
@Loops -big group sounds good, be good to have a hang out like Peace Hill Jam. would be sick to get some crew photos too.
does anyone have shots from Peace Hill Jam? share the stoke!
oh and btw - we could even do CITY MEET - then outta burbs like SCARBS and I can show you guys between MT CLAREMONT and WEMBLEY - then we could finish up in KALA? might as well make a whole arvo/evening out of it :P
whossss keennnnn?!
@Subdural Rosco -good to see another keen West Aus Rider!
@anyone keen if the weather isnt too poop -i might do 8-10 tomorrow night (Thurs) but im not sitting on here waiting for replies lol and have to work all day tomorrow without ASRA access. get out ya bloody phones and send a 20c text now and again ya'll :-) 0431 833 148
p.s. i dont mess people around; it will be a Yes or a No.
easy! catchas
@ "oh and btw - we could even do CITY MEET - then outta burbs like SCARBS and I can show you guys between MT CLAREMONT and WEMBLEY - then we could finish up in KALA? might as well make a whole arvo/evening out of it :P

i'm mega keen, lets get some crew together and make a date. 5th-12th of june isnt good though, got exams. :/
yep cam, sat arvo would be choice, coz im in kalamunda playing rugby in morning, numbers 0406278742, give us urs so i can let u know when im free and where u are so u can show us some mean spots, everyone else should man up and come too, kala on sat
@Dave Evans -i was talkin bout tomorrow but dependin on the weather it might have to wait. btw.. don't be shy man.. ASRA is a community :-)
got a mobile? cos let's face it.. it aint all gonna happen on here!
@Cam -will give you a call so answer ya bloody phone :-P
@Lachy -cool, if i dont answer feel free to call me cos i might sleep in. see how things go with the weather + what time Loops n Cam are gonna be seshing up in Kala.. might have to go up there first and get in amongst the stoke unless they're willing to wait til we come up later..? i just reckon the more crew the merrier
@Everyone -might have to keep away from Wilson Carparks for a while!
Mainly because last night Scotty (the bomber) and I went to do city stackers and omg.. man did we get rudely interrupted! it was fucking intense! security pulled us up and threatened $300 on-the-spot fine and the cops being involved if we didnt comply... so we played it cool and said that our I.D. was in our cars at the bottom where they we're parked. so one of the security dudes followed us down the stair well to get our info from our drivers licences (which were actually in our wallets at the time, in our back pockets) the other security dude drove back down. now it takes longer to drive back down then to take the stair well.. so keeping that in mind and having the security guard behind us we casually and co-operatively walked down the stair well to 'get our ID for him'... as i got closer to the door at the bottom i was thinking "fuck it, im so bolting, this is bullshit - i dont want this on my record or a $300 fine" at the same time i was thinking "shit.. he's gonna grab scotty cos he's right behind him as apposed to myself being closest to the exit door".. i then noticed that the security guard had gained our trust as i'd kept that co-operative energy flowing by still casualy walking down the stairs instead of gaining pace and there was a bit more space between him and us too. Scotty was almost right against my heels as we got closer to the bottom and thought "this is it.. it's a dog eat dog world and i hope scotty can run!" :-| so as i got to the bottom of the stairs i went BAM for the door! but fuck.. the damn thing got stuck! so i ripped it down and pushed it open and flew out whilst leaving the words "hope you can run!" behind me.... i then bolted out of there like Cathy Freeman on crack into an alleyway on Hay Street where my car was parked and changed my identity immediately by swapping tshirts i was wearing on top of each other, taking my beanie off and chucking on some random pornstar-like light-shaded sunnies. Meanwhile, Scott had ran the other way up Murray through a set of lights onto another side of a hill. We lost them and met up in Kings Park. so yeah.. probably give Wilson stackers a miss for a while cos they probably all report shit like that and its all under the same network i think... really i thinkin they were jus tryna scare us away and hope that we didnt come back... either that or they're just not that smart ha ha.
definately needa be more careful with stackers now.. this and other reports ive heard about security is rising because the longboarding scene is taking off, speaking of which we now have 41 members. word. big meet-ups are in order!
I think it's gonna be a lot better if we only do stackers with at least a handful of people like ive seen on youtube, definately smarter. but yeah thought i'd share the story and also use it as a heads-up to all you stacker lovers 8-)
@Scotty -cheers again dude. keep pumpin!
will show you some central runs that dont have security :-)
securtity guards have no power.. just decline to give them your id, leave and come back another time. if your polite then the cool guards just let you skate.
loops, i'm hellz keen for ewin (which i wont hit) wembley and trigg, we should see if some other people want in, that's if u wana hit all those places. :D
just got back from Mundaring.. i got a couple vids of zigzags plus other hills.. hope the files arent too big to upload
not sure if i'll be up for lunchtime skate but defs tomorrow night... Wembley and Mt Claremont definately sounds good.. i might even be able to get a driver so then we can all skate, skitch and get lifts. yibbeh-yibbeh-yehh
The Voice and I are heading out for a bombing run somewhere now, most likely claremont/wembs/scarbs hope to see some of you lads out there (you'll know us as kooks cause we ride gullwing sidewinder trucks)
@Rosco -lol wtf John Farnham?
dude would soooo be in... but you're hoping a bit too much for me to come looking for you between 3 suburbs and i dont even have your mobile!

When you see them, stop, say g-day and make a friend.
Same goes for security guards.
If they know, like and trust you; you'll be surprised what they fail to see :).
It is the cops stopping the motorists from behaving like tools (drink driving etc, etc) and subsequently hitting us. On top of that, they will be first on the scene to mop us up off the road should a motorist hit us, or we hit a lamp pole, etc, etc. Best that person doesn't already have it out for you!
I always go out of my way to say hello, have a chat and find out what sort of a day they have had. In turn they go out of their way to tell me to continue having fun and never ever harass me.
In fact, here's a story for you (happened last weekend).
I was sitting in my back yard drinking with a friend when I got a call from a private number.
Stupidly I answered.
It was my works security company letting me know the alarm had not been set.
I decided to do the right thing and go to work and set the alarm.
I put on my skateboard safety gear (helmet, elbow pads, knee pads) on and long boarded from Mt Lawley to Northbridge (2.3km, and 40kph+ at spots.).
I got to work and couldn’t get in the gate because I had left my remote in my car at home.
I decided to climb the fence as I was drunk and making stupid decisions.
Now, to paint a picture, I was wearing nice pants and a button up shirt, with Helmet, knee pads, elbow pads and slide gloves straddling a barbed wire fence to a private car park in Perth’s main nightclub suburb. I also had my long board hanging on the fence next to me.
There I was when two people pulled up in their car right next to me, got out really pissed of and started yelling at me to get down.
I asked them to calm down as I had a logical explanation.
As it turned out they were Detectives and thought I was robbing the place.
After a brief conversation they exclaimed
"You’re either telling the truth; or the most confident burglar I’ve ever met"
They then teased me for a while about booking me for drink driving a skateboard.
I then climbed the fence and checked the place was properly locked up before going home.
I do however now have a new year’s resolution:
"I shall never answer private numbers on my mobile out of business hours".
Hehe, yeah I'm contemplating new trucks for downhill... I think if I can handle speed wobbles on bombing runs on sidewinders I'm doing pretty good.
@freedom dan- Yeah man I didn't expect you to come find me lol. I was just saying that in case we met up and you'd know who I am from my style of board.
Went into the city yesters and my mate (The Voice- his voice is incredible loud and annoying) picked up some titanium bearings--not having enough dosh for ceramic 6's.
Does anyone else ride ceramics here?
Rosco-0423496717, text only please-- I do not authorise for you to use this number for soliciting purposes.
buying new precision trucks thinking of going the bears 45degrees on 190 axle. or the munkeys but need to be able to go over 100 kmhr cozz i just saw welshpool road and got wobbles at round 85 so just asking ian do your kala's handle 100kmhr. like the 46 degree base plate. just asking cozz lot of money for trucks.
you dont need to buy precision trucks to get into downhill. if you have a set of randal 180's/ or paris they are fine! all you need is some new stiff bush! you don't even need reverse kingpin trucks. many people ride indy 215's and love them.
its 90% rider 10% gear. what i would recommend before you go out and spend $500+ or so on a set of cnc trucks is buying a bushing kit. have a play with them in your cast trucks and see what feels good for you. i guarantee that this will make you a better skater.
p.s. i do love my kahas, great versatile truck. tight they are well solid, but if you but something softer in there they are super carvey.
p.p.s. having expensive trucks doesn't automatically make you an great skater it takes practice!
@rosco. you don't have to spend big bucks to go fast(talking if bearings here, but applies to other stuff too.) bearings wise, the benefit of ceramics is more that they handle grit and crap more(ceramic balls are much harder, and crush any grit that gets in them, as opposed to stainless steel balls, which get micro scratches in them much easier, and therefore are not as smooth). cleanliness of your bearings make way more difference than ABEC rating. skateboarders don't go nearly fast enough for ABEC ratings to make significant difference. so as far as ceramic v titanium v stainless steel, ceramic is the pick, but more so because they last. but keeping your bearings clean and lubricated with the proper lube(ie speed cream, not WD40, or oil, or diesel) and she'l be peaches. that was the long answer. short answer-yeah, i got swiss ceramic 6's in one of my boards- good bearings:)
also, how is everyone measuring their speeds? Because true 85k's is cooking, and 100k's is very hard to get around here?
ps. word ian, especially to your p.p.s.
usually have a car behind to measure speed, but hell keen to get a handheld gps so dont get run over if u eat it aye, yeah having hit 85 after regular 60s is a major step, fucking big scary one at that too
cars fail at measuring speed. speedos suck. only way to get a true reading is to have a gps.... or get a really nice cop to clock you on their speed gun i guess
kalamunda is nice we need a bomb at top of zigzags like mass group bombing. so good. and when are u guys hitting welshpool road again cozz wanna go fast.
i hit 85 down a street in scarborough called ewen street, my mate said he was doing 85 in the car behind and i was just going slightly faster so i just rounded it at 85, you could probably get over 90 with a really heavy push beforehand, pretty gnarly tho, the traffic is fairly heavy
hey people, new on the site.Been commuting on boards ~2yrs now and just got my new board in the mail today :D any upcoming events happening?, look forward to meeting you all
@Everyone -seems like we might as well hold a meet this Sunday arvo/early evening at Zig Zags!
meet at 3:00pm on Lascelles Parade - theres a couple look-out/parking areas along the left-hand-side of the road heading towards the Zig Zag (probably the best place to meet) then sort from there.
Bring your car if you can so we can take turns in giving lifts back up to the top!
Also, bringing helmet and pads is always a good idea.
Good times to be had. Weather is looking 50-50 *fingers crossed*
Who's down?
also there is a possibility that we could head onto Mundaring if anyone is keen for a bit more fun with an early night sesh if Cam and Connor are free to take us round. Sup guys?
if you're keen and can't get a lift to ZigZags meet me in the city and I'll give you a lift

Anyone else who needs a lift, speak up! :-)
