Workin on breaking in my Freerides and trying to get down my shut-down slides in prep for Thursday night. I do pull them off when the setup feels natural but when it doesn't feel fluid, I end up pulling it into a 180. Hopefully I don't kook it too hard on Thursday night seeings how it's my first sesh with you guys
You'll be fine mate just don't go too big if you're not feeling it. and work on turning your head back down the hill / taking your forward hand off the ground and swinging it downhill to stop a 180
I think my problem is that I tend to grab rail in the slide which serverely limits my foot movement. I started training myself to not hold onto the rail and go faster before sliding and managed to pull off a few good shut-downs last night. I'll head back out tonight to practice a bit more but should be sweet for tomorrow night. Can't wait XD
Im coming back to syd for a year on august 20th. anyone got a job opportunity they can shoot my way?
if you know of anyone who wants to hire a former landyachtz employee who has a BA in politics and tons of work experience, shoot me an email and hook me up!
i know i could probably buy a pair cheaper than its cost me to buy the stuff to make them but i still think i prefer to make my own as customizable as i want
I'm def gonna be joining you guys for bsg this week. The board is back with proper guards (thanks to Col) and I'm painting them tonight or tomorrow morning. If everything goes to plan this week, i should be rockin some Ceramic Tektons too
All skill levels dude. There are only a few things: Wear at least helmet and gloves. You should be able to footbrake pretty comfortably. And an ability to shutdown slide will be a big bonus too.
We strongly encourage helmet use. I only take it off if cruising on pedestrian only zones, but it's definitely suitable for bombquad seshes. Gloves are just awsome if you fall, and you need them to get into sliding. I myself wear helmet, gloves, kneepads and elbow pads. They have saved me many times.
Not too easy to find cheap helmets. The most important thing is to get one that fits your head well (a badly fitted helmet can get pretty frustrating). So head down to the hopshop and try some on
Bring on the madness. Robdog, you said the practice night is on the 14th, next thursday. Do we meet up common bombsquad time, or according to the time on the event page?
Thanks for the run tonight guys - I kinda missing the last turn and ended out back on the street, waited around for about 20 min and then bailed. the the record i stacked it good on the second corner board slid and then gripped flipping me into a car :) ill come around next week again - cant get any worse can I.
PS if anyone is up for a run during the week let me know.
to all bomb squad peeps. somebody stole my APEX 40 Original Longboard at bondi beach. It has yellow wheels and with a custom art deck that says: RIDE IN PEACE. if you have seen a similar board please inform me at this number 0488490738. thanks
hey guys Sydney's first night time race series is on tonight and all the way from the gold-coast is the Chad (Gibson) to come add some steeze and slash the city up, he;s one of Australia's best free riders and if you want a chance to learn a thing or two get along tonight to check him out.
8pm $20 entry, central meet up. gonna be an epic night!!!
The only time when bombsquad is 'off', is when absolutely nobody decides to go. This can happen if the roads are totally when and its pouring rain.
Otherwise, it would be pretty hard not to find a skater at railway square meeting up for some rad times. New people always welcome. Bring gloves and helmet (or more) and be sure to know how to footbrake.
Hey guys, I'm from Adelaide and I just moved to Jindabyne in the Snowy Mountains and I was wondering if you guys know of anyone up here that downhills or freerides or anything? I'm desperate for someone to skate with!
dude you live right next to some mega long and epic hills... im sure if you opened your eyes you will find them! If u wanna shred with sydney skaters, come to sydney. if you want skaters to shred with you in jindabyne, start a jindabyne thread
Yeah that's a good point. I'mjust trying to see if there was already a community before I started one. I'll just try to find out from some locals I guess
So as much as I would love to join in on Bombsquad one final time before leaving, I'm medically prohibited from doing so. This can't stop me from rocking up one final time to see the group again. So the question is this: At what point of the evening would you prefer for a mysterious figure to emerge from the darkness with a bag full of cookies and possible drinks? Will probs be this week, maybe next.

It isn't officially 'off', but if it rains or if the roads are soaked then people generally won't turn up.

damn been ridin 2 months but no gloves nor helmet :/ but then again i probs need one if we r gonna ride on streets ay?

Trust me, get a helmet, it's worth the money when you avoid a coma. And if you're gonna learn to slide you pretty much need gloves.
