Yo just checking this shindiggery is still on this Thursday, me and a friend might be coming down hopefully would be the first time but keen as beans for it!
Hi Guys, Im a visitor staying in Syndey for a month, and would love to do some night skating. Can you confirm you guys will be skating tomorrow @ 6:30 Rail square?
Central Bus bay outside of the Central trainstation is where everyone meets I actually don't know how to exactly describe it though sorry, just get around there 15 minutes early and skate around the station and look for other boarders I guess.
Dave, bummer about your skin donation to the road, hope you heal up soon. Other than that i picked up someone's elbow pad (187 killerpads). I'll bring it next Thursday. Just lemme know who it's for.
Dave I'm feeling your pain.after like 3-4 years of not skating I've jumped back on it and getting back into it.
Managed to come off on thursday practicing pendys, got my left forarm and right knee, then this arvo came off again going downhill and landed on my chest and arms again, redid my left and got a fresh one on my right haha.
3 weeks back into after 3-4 years and already donating plenty of skin,
Anyone skate around hills area? north rocks, castle hill area?
Dunno bro, just sorta faded out of it. I was never really into it all that hard, just into cruising (I've got a sector 9 pintail) and never had gloves or anything. Literally went for a skate the other week cause I've just recently moved into the hills area and got hooked again. Been watching videos everyday and stuff haha. Made some slide gloves and started practicing slides. Trying to recover a bit at the moment though haha, too keen too quick. Apparently pintails aren't that great for downhill haha
Nice dude! All my mates are so surprised how much I got into it but I just love it so much. Yeah pintails aren't great for downhill but they're allright if you're set up properly, they can be a bitch to slide though. You have trucks and wheels though so if you wanna grab a freeride/DH deck it shouldn't cost that much by itself (especially second hand).
Yeah that's a good idea, just grab a secondhand board.
I've managed to learn how to slide it, hopefully it means when I get something a little more suited to sliding it becomes that much easier haha
Not colliding with a bus or taxi and dying is one particular skill. Slightly related to this are the ability to stay on your board, control your speed and emergency stop if necessary. If you can't, don't turn up until you can.
More to the point is being able to shutdown slide essential. I can do handsdown 180's but they don't really drop speed too much. I can footbrake from about 20km/h, maybe a little more and can carve, so it depends how fast you guys normally go and how steep the runs are? And I'm fine to stay on the board and not hit anything.
Bro my only real shutdown is a hands down toeside, had to emergency use it tonight haha, practice not going 180 and going a bit faster and you should be good :)
! guys that was mad fun for my first time! Thanks... even though i smashed my ankle :( but it WILL be good for next week! zoo keen. that was awesome! Cheers Dill (apex 40 guy) :P
Im moving up to sydney next month and would realy like to sesh it up some time with you guys. Iv never been yet so would also like advice on places I should be looking at to live. Not just for skating but places that are close to public transport and simply recommended
Asking for the best place to live is like asking the best wheels to skate... Do you like to be in the city? Suburban? Close to the beach? Do you prefer trains or buses? Do you like your trees and parks? Will you have a job/school/uni/whatev which you would like to easily travel to?
And then some suburbs are plain out more expensive than other ones. So your budget and house size will also factor in.

seems like a good idea alex. I'm assuming that the central bus station is out the front of Central train station, is that right?

The meeting place is Railway Square, which is that little triangle between George St and Lee St near where the Devonshire Tunnel comes out:

Now that the school holidays have started you can expect a bigger crowd than the usual turn up, which also means the runs will be a bit more chill.

OR you can just footbrake. A lot. You'll be fine. Footbrake for life etc, etc...
You can always just bail if you feel that it's a bit too much.

With my skill set Id say close to the city as my job will most likely be there.
Public transport in general dont matter, be skating if I can.
The lest expensive place's, its just me so il be going into a shared place id say.
