shipping was $40. And that was for a set of zigs, heaps of bushings, hardware, trucks and the deck itself...seems alright to me...and i takes about a week to get to my door.
From what Ive been told the upcoming GS event is a DH event with cones. Ive not come across a slalom race before that needs foot braking before a turn.
Even at Pump Station you could go all out without the need to slow down.
Id be riding something you are already comfortable riding before you try testing new setups.
Yeah..about that, my DH setup has 25 inch WB anyway. Plus i just bombed my local 70kmh hill and the GS setup was heaps of fun, felt faster than usual (probably because the board is slightly smaller) and as for foot braking, i have a feeling that some people have over exaggerated, like Chinese whispers, one person says its challenging then the next says that its gnarly and so on. I'll bring both boards and decide when I've seen the hill in person.
ive just payed my dues so im ready to race ! im back first race since 81 so could be a bit rusty ! hope some of you over east crew can make it to jacks atack slalom !
I have to leave my car in Canberra from the 2nd October for the 2 weeks before the National Capital Slalom Championships while I fly north to see family. Airport parking is very expensive. Anyone have some place I can safely leave my car and skate gear?
you could leave it at my house if you have to. Would be parked in front yard in Fraser (Belconnen area) but area is fairly safe. I have never has any problems
There is also a poll question on charlie. If people want a proper head-2-head slalom race at Monbulk, the day after BoarderX-St Kilda, on 17th November, then vote, otherwise the road will be used for a slide session. http://charliedontskate.com/bb2/viewtopic.php?t=7125
And don't shit me with excuses about not being able to log on.....you lot all came from Charlie!

There's still a chance we'll do slalom, we'll add it to the rego and if more than 10 people pay it will happen, if not we'll refund those that have paid unless they want to set up the cones themselves during the slide jam. So as soon as they have the sign up on ASRA put your money on the table.
for Monbulk, 5 downhill, 3 slalom and 2 slide jam have signed up so far not enough for what looks like the last slalom of the year, come on guys and girls, have a dig!!!. Of the 7 people who have signed up only 2 have used there own accounts to pay, just how old isthe field, no wonder some are crying about not being able to afford leathers but if guardians or others are paying I am sure they want their loved ones back in one piece.
No Ben, that is not a very good idea, down here in Victoria, we just banged out another two races at Yarra Ranges, and we were not counting on having any more NSW races diluting our VIC ASRA points!
Bugs has all the tally Sent 26 Nov and was hopeing,, as all of us, he would have it up by now, , we are still a tad away from the eleventh hour, he may post them , But if not when i get back to work (Thay are on the, Work PC ) i will post the best 6 racers of all the riders this year,( Calcs X by the 2012 Rules & race catogory point score spred sheet) ,, Cheers All and a happy New Year
Hey Dan, re wider wheels, Have you found them any good? I noticed Dave Miller was trying out some new wider wheels at Canberra, but he swapped back after a run or two. Even though they are older tech maybe, I can't go past my retro Zig Zags, rear set are beautifully coned and buffed and always grip.
the wide wheels at the back work a treat if you have a fair bit of side load as in a coarse with a lot of offset but they are harder work for tight slalom. I think for G.S and/or rougher surface the wider wheels feel safe more stable and still fast. They were the most successful and popular for banked slalom (front and rear) in Canberra. I think after Dave Miller did a few runs at Canberra he probably felt the weren't nimble enough. It was a fun to have a tight coarse this year for a change.
I've tried a few of the older brands Siesmic hotspots, not bad, Loaded Orangatangs, used them for GS at the pump station, but were a little slippy if pushed. I'm right out of touch with wheel models and brands. Once was the time slalom was developing wheels used for downhillers, now all the new wheels are no doubt downhill/longboard specific, and adapted to slalom. I came late to Zig Zags but they are certainly my favourites.

We have official approval for our closed road event!!! Nov 24th Perth WA Slalom racing!!!
Th road is wide enough to run a dual lane race. And hopefully we will get hold of some timing gear for single lane races.

World renown slalom pro, Paul Price is in Sydney for a while.
I'm looking at doing a slalom session/race on the central coast on sunday 25th May, so we can have a skate & catch up.
Venue will be at either Warnervale, 'road to nowhere' or our SGS & hybrid road from last year a bit further north.
I know it's short notice. It might not be a full on race, but a just a fun session & you get to skate with one of the top riders on the pro circuit.
I'll try to arrange a few prizes maybe.
Let me know if anyone is keen & your thought on the venue.
