It was too good to be true boyd. I was unable to get a price list or any idea if there were any trucks actually available to buy despite many promises to the contrary. If your after a Foxy you might as well just go for an adjustable 100mm Indeez and save yourself $200
Don't know if I have one in the shop now (sold a few out recently) but I get them on a regular basis and it would be about $160 for the truck
anybody got a decent cheap, slalom set that they are willing to sell.
slalom is sick, I love it now hah.
is there going to be a conehead cup next year or anything alike?
The music sucks, the dude is a complete weirdo but it does the job as an instructional vid on different styles of pumping. The dude hauls arse when he gets going and that is a crazy loose setup
Having problems with wheel bite on a louis ricard. Front truck is running 2 x 73a riptide bushings, 7* angled riser and 2 x 1/8th inch flat risers. The question is more riser or harder bushings?
More riser, and maybe more wedging. Leave the bushings soft.
Also more speed, cos you can't really get wheelbite on a slalom board at higher speed (if you did you'd be having bigger problems than those caused by the wheelbite).
Yeah I only get it when I'm driving through my front foot - if I drive using the tail its not an issue. But I'm still learning and sometimes i do something weird and I get bite. Also the bushing pops out of the seat all the time is this a problem?
Use barrels instead of cone bushes. No way those suckers can pop out of place.
I agree with Bugz, risers all the way instead of harder bushes. My rig rolls quite a high deck height but it makes little difference when you don't push or footbrake much like slaloming.
Its got a 5.0 in it at the moment and the bottom bushing is sitting on top of 3 washers to get it to the right height. They are both barrels 73a. Yes I meant the seat in the hanger. Its mainly the bottom bushing which pops out.
There was 68a but people said it was too soft. The next duro up is 78 (too hard?). Yeah the riptide wtb bushings feel great! They are soft but have the spring and rebound that the khiro's lack.
Also not meaning to jump you like this but what's going on with the trucks? I'm very interested in buying if you'll machine them!
We often go to Port Stephens as we have family there, so next time we are up I would like to skate Kincumber drain, but for now I am looking foward to the Springy ditch in the next few weeks.
Hey Mark I'm sure pc and the naccos guys will be along directly to correct me but people usually get there early for setup 9 or 10 but timed rundown not until a bit later 11 or so. One unexpected requirement for Kincumber is insect repellent for the mozzies and leeches!
craig i had a quick go on Pat's setup and those indeesz are a good option for anyone looking to upgrade from trackers/bennetts etc they felt really nice and not too divey. Hit him up for his bushing and degree setup if you weigh around 70kg
I have rarely fallen while slaloming yet I wear what some might consider ridiculous amounts of protective gear (even a downhill mountain bike vest at times). I always fall when I'm doing nothing much like trying out a new setup, mucking around on a mates board (head hit the ground twice, helmet likely didn't save my life but I at least avoided blood, concussion headache etc) So with few exceptions if i put a foot on a board I wear a helmet.
Looking forward to some of those pics Mark (if not all 1714!)
i'm one of those people who skated for 20 years without ever wearing a helmet. but a few slalom crashes showed me the light. when slams happen in slalom they happen without warning and you can do little to soften your fall.
do i always wear a helmet? well, no. i cruise around and muck around without a helmet. but anything more than just a casual muck around i wear a helmet these days. i've seen enough bad head injuries to convince me its worthwhile...
Have always wanted to ask about the difference between front and back duro's. Most people seem to run duros which are +/-3 i.e lime and yellow zigs. I have a set of 80 and 86 would that be a silly combo? (currently running 80 and 83 inheats). Or is it the fact that if the pavement is good enough to run 86 you might as well run a higher duro in the back?
Run the hardest wheel you can for speed, without sacrificing grip.
Grip is required more for the back truck so you usually run softer on the rear.
Its incredibly difficult to lose traction on the front unless you're doing something totally wrong.
Your technique will play alot into the equation. The better your skills the faster you'll go without losing grip so you'll want the hardest wheels to suit the surface.
These days I roll 86a Orange plus Zig front, Lemon Zig back,
if the course isn't as grippy I'll drop it back a few duros to Lemon front, Lime back.
Retro/Reflex make the best thane period.
Re: Helmets
If you have a helmet, wear it, otherwise why bother buying one.
If you are challenging yourself like pumping cones or rolling a hill, always wear one.
I see no harm in pushing along, flats cruising without one though, I do it.
Cents - 80 & 86 is a fine combo and will work pretty much everywhere. Only on giant slalom with big and long sweeping turns have i ever had my front wheels slip out. and that was with the 85a coretechs, which ride like a 90a wheel.

Try making the bottom bush slightly harder but keep the top bush nice and soft.
It'll take the squishy feeling out making for sharper turning.
The bottom bush carries the bulk of your body weight.
Wow! 73a. Now your talking. I bet she really dives when you turn your Bennet.
