Good thinking Haggy. If we use the full SGS course then each run takes 1 min (well takes me 1 min). So even with a doz or so riders we could run out of time for everyone to get a few runs. 11am it is and knowing Mountain Mic he'll be there even earlier!

use randals if you got them Sean. 150 or 180 wide.

55* front 35* rear. no wedging needed. put a stack of risers under to stop wheelbite and you're in business. Doesn't really matter how high you go cause footbraking not required.

Bugger the weather! Still dying to get back to the mountains. Anyone got opinions on a reset date for Pumpstation Church session/race? BMBs?

How about one or two weeks after the Canberra race, which is 20 August?
  • Mountain Mick

    Hey Marek.

Any weekend you feel like rolling post up, be nice to have a session on the new course and get it sorted. Timing would be nice but is not necessary for having a good roll. Ross, Nate and myself are always keen to roll the hill.If you have cones bring some along I have 58 but we require 80 something .

  • Bozac

hey guys, I have thinned out my quiver and now realise i need a good ditch board because there is no way in hell i am using my pavel at ainslie or kincumber and my DH board feels too long. any recommendations for something that is a good allrounder for ditch and GS? i like the louis ricard fullbag deck but don't know if i should go something non-kicktail mounted rear for the ditch. If hop had the fullbag pool slayer I would jump on it, that things looks beast!

I reckon a 120Y would be about right for Ainslie and Kincumber. Top-mount, 27.5" wheelbase - perfect.

Good on ya Mick I'll def try and get up for a casual session in the next few weeks, i've got 50 cones I can bring, and my dodgy timer.

So the BMB Pumpstation Church of Slalom (kind of a race now?) if we go for the 4th September it can be officially counted as a ranking event. Thoughts? (esp from those with the timers!).

Going over seas and won't be back till late september. Looks like I'll miss Canberra too.

So any objections to reposting the Pumpstation Church of Slalom race/event for the 4th of September? Can we get the timer for that day? I can bring 50 cones and the BMBs seem to have 50 already.

Mark I'm up for a casual session at Allawah in early August Maybe a Sunday morning. Too much slalom is barely enough!

4 Sep is good - let's do it!
  • Robbo

Might be safer to call the event for the 28/8 then we just all show up on the 4th unannounced with timer and cones, that way we can avoid the inevitable pumpstation event day weather

    Ross Sulfaro

Yeah guys, the 4th of Sept could be grand final day for my soccer team, will find out dates asap and post up , won minor premiership last Sunday. Dont want to miss GS at the pumpstation.

I've reposted Pumpstation for the 4th Sept. Should we run this as an official event, ASRA full membership, entry fee etc. or do we keep it low key?
  • Bozac

sounds good, means i get a headstart on bear for points if he can't make it haha my season tally arch rival judging by last years results. Robbo do I need to swing ASRA some cash I can't recall if i have renewed membership?

Worlds results from Ottowa are in http://www.slalomskateboarder.com/events/2011/Ottawa/2011_World_Cha...

Looks like it was a tough tight slalom course with loads of DQs. Almost half the open field, 2/3rds of the Masters and several pros double DQed in the qualifiers, can't wait to see some video of that course.

I think this might be the Hybrid course?. Gnarly course, offset city!

Anyone know about standard sizes or plans to build a nice roll in. i have researched DIY skate for plans of ramps but they are all quarter pipes. i know i can use my imagination and do one from their ideas but i thought id ask.

You have all stood on a few i guess.

Haggy did you see my pm with video of the ditch??????

Looking at a ditch slalom event on the sunshine coast qld, very early stages at the moment.

Anyone in qld have access to a timer????

F it i will ad the vid here of the ditch and you can tell me if i'm dreamin. not that steep, hense the need for a nice roll in ramp. Any thoughts on staging an event would be appreciated, PM if you like.

Check here for details/plans on ramps - the portable modular one looks good as it fits in the back of a hatchback. http://www.slalomskateboarder.com/phpBB/viewforum.php?f=57&sid=...

Or PC has made some killer ramps.

Videos always make ditches look shallower than they really are.

  • Premium Member

    Adam

is that a standard size ramp???

i guess i pictured something closer to chest high?

do you think the ditch would lend itself to a cone on either side, as in a big sweeping surfy run.

I also wondered about diferent cone spacing at diferent points along the track to mix it up or is that "just not cricket"?

Could you do two differnt tracks on the same ditch and combine the times together?

Bit un initiated when it comes to slalom.

There is not really a standard but 3ft seems normal for tight and hybrid, flat slalom events, PC has a 5 footer which gets used to good effect in the Kincumber Ditch in NSW.

I'm not much on skating ditches so i'll leave it to others to comment on yours. But just get a crew together clean the ditch and have a little mini event to see how it goes. Use a stopwatch if you haven't got a timer and potplants, empty bottles, cups or something if you need cones (cones dont get hit much in ditch racing, usually 1 cone DQ).

If it works well, get a bigger event going and I'm sure ASRA can lend some equipment.

I'm lucky in NSW as there are lots of experienced coneheads around to get things right. Up there you might need to fend for yourselves a bit, keep it simple to start with maybe. I for one would be stoked to travel north for an event.
