got a bit of pocket money and need to know the better board to get,
im into downhill so the evo would be great but i like a cruise and thought the dervish would be good for that.
any suggestions?

Ultimately mate, you'll probably end up buying both of them. But you'll but them at different stages as your skill level increases and you continue tackle hills that are increasingly challenging.

A good in-between board for me has been the Motion (6 fingered) Samurai. It's not good enough for 100kmh down a 20% decline, but it is OK for 50kmh down a 7% hill. Now that I feel more at home on the hills I'm looking for a more serious dh board so I can tackle faster roads.

Not sure this helps you at all. Just my 2 cents
Hi Jack
Choosing between those two boards, I would definitely go with the Dervish. You'll build your skills heaps more and soon feel comfortable riding the board in any situation even a bit of DH. Then after a while when you really want to go fast, get a DH deck and you'll find it a lot easier to jump on and hit some massive hills. If you can learn to feel at one with a dervish, a flexi/carving board, then it'll be a piece of cake when you get on a stiff/stable DH board.

I have a dervish and use it for everything - sliding, carving, cruising, and DH up to about 75km/h. Had that for a year, now looking at getting a DH board to go extra fast.
i agree with Benny. just get the stiffer (Flex 1) to add as much stability to the thing and learn everything on that. your not gonna be hitting speeds that can't be handled on a Dervish for a long while anyway, so get something thats fun for everything.
