It will be interesting to see the community response throughout Gympie now that they know the cops are out to get us.....
The thing that sucks most though, the skaters smashing "into the side of shops, cars and people" and running red lights isn't even downhill skateboarders....It's shortboarders looking for a real adrenalin hit....

It never ceases to amaze me the knee-jerk reactions skating seems to provoke. Here is a picture of four guys in full safety gear, including helmets, and we are supposed to believe they are a hazard to themselves and the community. And the fact there are no quotes from skaters, but only from a cop whose bias is obvious, makes it abundantly clear this is not proper journalism but fear-mongering...

The Gymp crew are controlled and level headed. Probably safer than most of the rest of us.
Good point Haggy i think it is fear-inducing and trying to single out longboarders as another threat to society. LAME
I also like where it says 'who deliberately ride on the road'. As opposed to what?! Unintentionally cruising up the street?

The cop is sweating because some old fart complained and it's "the authorities" responsibility to follow it up.
Somehow the journo got wind of it and has made a mountain out of a molehill. I mean take a look at the other stories listed on the page. They're really struggling to make news so I wouldn't worry about it so much.

If you guys were to make it as successful skaters, I bet the same journo would become your best mate sucking up to you praising your efforts.

I agree with Fitz, someione has complained and they have to be seen to look at it. The bone of contetion with the bpolice around here seems to be doube white lines. Try to avoid putting vids up with that on, so at least if the do catch up with you, you are trying t do the right thing.

i say dont skate on footpaths either incase u crash into a shop. nah, jus skate footpaths and keep on the down low.
