Event Description

It’s on again!

The second annual Collingrove Cup will be held at the Collingrove Hillclimb track, Angaston South Australia on October 29th - 30th 2011.

The Track
Although it’s only 800m long the narrow technical track will be sure to test the skill and patience of many of the countries best downhill racers over 2 days of racing.

Disciplines and Format

All disciplines will be catered for including Downhill skateboard, Classic luge, G-Bike and Streetluge. The format will be:

  • $100 rider rego fee (see below for more details)
  • 100 entries only
  • 2 man elimination rounds over 2 days
  • Race to qualify
  • $$$$$$$ CASH PRIZES$$$$$$$
  • Trophies, prizes and more!

Standup will have Pro division (over 18) and Junior division (under 18yrs) but please note that you can only race in one division not both for standup.

*Groms Take Note*
This year will be different than last year in the fact that we are stepping it up and trying to make the event flow quicker and give more track time to riders, so by doing this ALL disciplines will be using the full track.

IGSA RULES APPLY

Registration will open on July 6th at 7pm (SA time) and close at midnight October 16th 2011. All entry fees must be paid before this date, if not pay on the day is available but will be $150.

With over 200 skaters in Adelaide alone this event is sure to sell out fast so get in quick to secure your spot. This is a legal event on a closed road with ambos, shuttle buses, food, drinks, music and the Cre8ive Sk8 air fence will be in action too!

SA CREW TAKE NOTE! We are planing at least 1 training day at the track between now and October to give some of the younger guys and beginners a go at the track. Stay tuned for an announcement on dates for this!

See you on the hill!!!

There's a couple of things I'd like to mention in regards to what happened at the race. Both last years and this years event cost around 10k to put on and when an organiser announces a race that is a commitment that they cannot get out of. Raise the cash for the race or fork it out of your own pocket and this can be quite stressful. So in saying this it's not the objective of a retarded organiser (thanks Gabe, haven't Been called a retard since about yr 6) to let it go pear shaped.

Another thing I'd like to mention is that this event has been put on by gbikers, the same guys that were banned from all asra and igsa events a couple of years ago and they have welcomed everyone with open arms and done their best to help STANDUP SKATEBOARDING progress in SA while leaving the political bs at the door step as was evident last year and it was a great success.

I ran the format last year and I asked bugs if he would mind developing an even better formatt this year which he put a lot of time into but due to personal circumstances I wasn't able to make the race and the format was figured out on the day. Sakamoto nor GSE or ASRA had anything to do with organising this event (apart from assistance with insurance thanks haggy, and robbo for helping with the rego) the organisers on the day asked for help and Andy put his hand up as well as the other volunteers that made it happen.

It's called constructive criticism, this hiccup is something every potential race organiser can learn from but like bernie said who would want to organise a race wether it be outlaw or legal when you risk getting burned online by everyone including those that weren't even there?

Think about the future of this sport and more importantly the potential race organisers out there that might be considering holding an event because the last thing we need is people being indirectly influenced into not running events after watching other organisers get slammed.

Lastly a big shout out to gbiker Brett Phillips who came all the way from melb to race but instead volunteered to marshal both days and only had one run on Sunday, you're a legend mate!

How many runs did everyone else have??

The main problem with the event was communication, same goes for all the shit every cunt has to say on every thread about anything. For me, I was happy just to have a bunch of fuckin rad guys, skating my local hills, it sucked that the race flopped... shit happens. Learn from what went down at this event so it NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN. Get off the computer and go get rad.

Chill,.... you are all MY mates. Lets just move forward slowly and try to keep things nice. I want to see things sorted out, and a nice news item be written up like Ado says.

Gabes video was outstanding, and I'm sure there are tons of great pics and videos out there too. I want to do a news item that clears things up.

Now lets watch the Wiener dog ride a skateboard.

I know that someone just has to be fuming over all this, and is going to put up another post that will add nothing to YOUR SPORT.

so before you hit the "Add Comment" button, think, is it really that important to have the last word about who did or said whatever, and will your comment add anything to the development of YOUR SPORT.

Probably time to start a new discussion on the preferred race formats, and leave this one to rest in peace.

Hypocrisy!

After ''leaving the scene''. Calling people (who thought they were good mates) names, abusing them over the internet, creating youtube accounts purely to post nasty comments on peoples videos then deleting the accounts so as to not receive any comments back, deleting ASRA accounts and blocking people over facebook... Only then to waltz back in a year later preaching about not bullying online and expect anyone to know who you are or care what you say?

Shit happens! Hope you all had a rad week in Radelaide, sorry you blew a little to much money (I know the feeling) but hey, it's one more ''road'' to tick off your list and hopefully a few more too. Skate for fun and with good friends!

After the stoke of running a fairly simple ditch race tonight, I made a really big mistake  reading this thread, and am now trying to work out Who would want to run a skate board event, but then to my great delight I realise, there are so many of you who know exactly how a race should be run, waaay better than any of the organisers and their devoted volunteers that have ever gone before you. Undoubtly your events will all be far cheaper, on a brand new custom built roadways designed expressly for skateboard racing of the highest order, with chilled Perier water, and nymphs to wave palm fronds gently over your heads, and sprinkle rose petals before you as you saunter down the red carpet to the start line, warm in the knowledge that there is also insurance that will absolutely guarantee the full restitution of even the slighest injury, or compensate for disatisfaction with trifling procedural infractions, backed up by a phlanx of actuaries to ensure that even the most byzantine sequence of race results is correctly and accurately recorded, interpreted and presented in a fashion that is clear and ensures that exactly who we expected is indeed declared victorious and after all that we can all look forward to reading about such triumphs of organisation, right here, within minutes of the end of each event.

Indeed we all really do live in a wonderful era of skateboarding!

Bugs -
I was just wandering if ASRA could take those draws/formats that you have done up in 'Timesheets - free for the taking' and put them in the guides/events section. Just so we don't have to trawl through the forums to find it.

From what i know this event was meant to use an ASRA format, are we able to see this format? It's ok if we can't...

Automated systems are great.... if you have a laptop, if you don't happen to have a laptop at an event or it goes flat, and someone in the future does need to go back to plain old pen and paper it would be great to have them easy to find.

I just hope the SAGRA guys don't get a sour taste in the mouth from all this, although i imagine it would be hard not too. Come back next year guys, i'll be there for sure!
